Need photo help

Looking for an easy way to organize my photo's so I can locate them quickly. It seems it would be as simple as putting them in a folder and pulling up the folder. Then I cant find the folder from where I am loading the photo's into. Like I said this should be simple, however I am a computard and I am having difficulty. Is there a best program to use for this? Thanks for the help :)

If you want to arrange them in files, its pretty easy..just name the files something you'll remember. If you save your pictures to my pictures just right click/ new/ folder and rename the folder. Either cut and paste your photos...drag them...or even save them to that folder as you load them on the computer. Once you figure it out, it is pretty simple...and helps a ton when you start getting a lot of photos on your computer.

I actually have a photo/software question??? Does anyone know of a program that allows you to resize multiple images at once? I thought I could do it in photoshop but I can't remember how:face-icon-small-con
Thanks

If you're using Windows, you can use Microsoft's Image Resizer http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx (download clicky is about 1/2 way down on the right side).

Once you install you can choose multiple pics, right click and choose "resize pictures".

If you're using a Mac I would recommend resizeit (http://homepage.mac.com/nsekine/SYW/SYWSoft/softOSXE.html#ResizeIt) . That also allows you to save the image as a different file type.

Why thank ya Mindy:D I'll give er a shot when I get home! BTW we missed you in Afton this year......hope all is well :)

If you're on a Mac, get GraphicConverter. It has some catalogging/browsing options, and it'll open damn near any image file imaginable. I got a stash of old .CAM files from an oooooold Casio camera, and it opens that proprietary format. I've thrown stuff at it I have no idea what it was, and it opens 'em. Really amazing program for the price.

Does have a Batch Convert function, lets you set up a batch of processes (Resize, brightness/contrast/levels, batch rename, rotate, loads of others) and run on a folder of images. Can also set up "Watch folders", so anything you drop into that folder it'll run that batch process on automatically if GraphicConverter is running.

I've tried using iPhoto, but never really had any luck with it.

This is the quickest/easiest way to resize.

You can also try google's Picasa. Its free www.picasa.com . When you install it, you can have it search your computer for all your pictures or just use your "My Pictures" folder.

Part I like is you can "hold" a bunch of pictures in the toolbar, recrop, reduce redeye, contrast, etc., then use the buttons to upload to a web album, send them to places like wal-mart or shutterfly to get printed, attach to an email, and other things.

I've been using it since version 1 and have been fairly happy with it. One change I'd suggest...default size for emailed pictures is 480 pixels wide, I bump it up to 640 or 800.
