What is the best cooker for heating/cooking your favorite foods under the hood.:face-icon-small-hap
And some tips to go with it!:face-icon-small-coo

The Cooker Thing by The Sled Shed

The best cooker, bar none is the Cooker Thing made by Al and Pete at The Sled Shed in Revelstoke. Two tier cooking container, you can make anything in it; steak and lobster, cake, sausage, the sky is the limit. You can get the contact info on their website, www.thesledshed.ca.

If you want to keep your exhaust stock, Woodsrider sells a nice Muffpot and mount kit that sits right on top of the joint between the pipe and muffler. The Muffpot sits level and easy to access.

Muffpot or Hotpot are the best. Hot Pot has a built in handle, that is nice. Hot Doggers are crap IMHO.

I got the hood vent kit from 2 Cool Air Vents that allows you to put a Muff pot down on the y-pipe connector to get good heat. Just picked it up this weekend. Looks cool and functionable.

That's a good idea kt19. You can still reach the cooker thru the side panel As well though and the best spot to put it is on the pipe just off the y pipe. It will cook anything mounted there. Way down the exhaust isn't near as hot. Only problem is the pipe has a good taper there so tough to keep the hose clamps tight. I use 2 clamps.

This is the hot spot for any cooker on the Pro. You can still get it in and out through the side panel.

i have the hot dogger....its ok, need leather gloves to open it, I put only hot dogs in it, wrapped in tin foil in the morning and let them cook till noon so colder spot the better. Couple buns and some mustard in my pack and i got a nice hot lunch.

the place we stay at makes us cookies, soup and a sandwhich for lunch so i only used it one day to try it out but it was great.

My muff pot is just mounted here:

I folded/notched the ribs on the pipe heat shield over a bit to make a groove for the hose clamp. It didn't want to stay tight for awhile but I think I got it to stay snug with locktite or exhaust silicone or something? Can't remember....which means I didn't have to mess with it much I guess.

If you just cruise down trail it might not be hot enough. If you are on the trigger off-trail a lot it gets hot enough for sure.

Sledshed Can/Muff Pot combo.

Sled sounds awesome, a little on the loud side but being in BC it isn't an issue and I like a loud sled. Food is always hot, easy to add and remove and causes envy whenever I open the side panel. The two layers are great, allows you to make a couple different things.

My advice is:

Nothing too saucy. First ride out I tried Beefaroni, I now deal with a tomato sauce stain in the grey foam on the side panel.

Premake your food and use the muff pot to heat it up. I ride with mine in my tunnel bag, 15-20 minutes before we stop for lunch I throw it in and ride hard. Always warm, never burnt when we are ready to eat.

When you have a late day and some left overs, just because you are tired, don't leave the muff pot in your bag! You might forget it, then not ride the following weekend and then need to make the decision to clean the moldy chicken enchilada's or buy a new muff pot.

That is the coolest thing!

I prefer the muff pot over the others. Hot pockets are what I mostly have for lunch on the hill. Can stuff 4 in there if I need to.

Another hint for whichever product you purchase, use a parchment bag to cook your food, does not burn and will keep saucier foods from spilling out.

Yes but I quit using the oven bags. Too big and sometimes I'd cook the bag onto the pan. I deal with foil leaving black marks on the food. Still tastes good when its cold out. Do mostly hot pockets and pizza rolls.

X2 that works awesome. Toss some sliced steak leftovers in there, maybe a pizza pocket and some pepperoni sticks etc.. Beauty lunch vs. a cold snickers bar :face-icon-small-ton
