Need McCall Update

I am with a group that has a trip planned for McCall starting the 24th and going through the 29th. We are from Washington state and we are concerned with the way the weather has been here in the west and I was wondering if anyone was there this weekend or any time recently and could give a report on how the snow was. We dont want to cancel but dont want to ride all week on ice either. Help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

There is a good base but we need more snow for great riding. It was still good up high on Friday with packed powder, sinking in 4" to 12" depending on exposure, location. It will likely be "spring like snow" everywhere soon but will only take one big storm to turn things around. The cold nights are creating a layer of ice crystals on the top at elevation so it's not hardpack either & better in the trees and north elevations.

There will be a group of 3-4 of us coming to McCall from Washington the 25th to the 30th. This will be the 6th year in a row for me. Justabry13, PM me if you might be interested in hooking up together for some riding.

went for ride on 19th

I rode the loop around Brundage mountain the snow at elevations was fun the stuff in the shade on the north side was 10"-12" of soft Hoar frost. the sunny spots up high were not as soft but you could carve a turn in them. I think it would still be worth the trip. it wouldn't take much snow to make it epic. I might be interested in going for ride while your here.

Went out today the 21st

Went out today (21st.) to Warren for a burger and it was okay but pretty well marked up. One picture shows the machines cutting the snow some. We could climb to the top of any mtn. In fact found another bowl that I didn't know was even there. They hide these bowls everywhere around here. Did 88 miles and only burned 5.6 gallons in an 800 Doo. Not bad. More snow coming. Need it.

www.snowmobilemccall.net

Should have alot of info and www.hinsonpowersports.com

Both those website work PAC has a website to payetteavalanche.org

That should keep you up to par on the conditions and info. I would come this way the snow is great for finding new area's because its not supper deep and yet it's soft enough to cut around in. We are due to get some weather according to several sites so it is only going to get better.
