Need input on Fox Float-3 Evol-R shocks.

Looking for some input on these Fox shocks Polaris has on sale.

http://www.polaris.com/en-us/snowmobiles/shop/accessories/shocks

Float Evol R Burandt valved for $657. Seems like a heck of a deal. Ive had exits and been real happy with them on other sleds (stock WE's on now) Also never really cared for the older floats but after watching the Skinz shock therapy videos I may be a believer.

Appreciate the input.

Thanks !

The FLOAT shocks that you mention from years ago have about as much in common as a 1967 F-100 to a new Diesel F-350.

The Fox Float-3's perform very well... with excellent control and adjustability. The Bleed shim pistons, overall valve stack specification, and negative air spring on this shock are well thought out. Typical "old school float" issues of stiff end-of-travel air are eliminated with the EVOL chamber which allows you to run a stiffer main chamber pressure without getting harsh at the end of travel

All of this is able to be custom tailored by adjusting the main and EVOL pressures, their and their relationship to each other... and the "Rebound" adjustment also has an effect on the compression as well... open up the adjustment, and you will soften both rebound and, to a lesser degree, the compression....

I've had these shocks on multiple sleds and was never disappointed.

I picked up my first set last year. Came with my Skinz Concept front end. I wanted the front and rear to match, so I added the Burandt rears too.

If you are going to put the floats on definitely go with the Burandt shocks. The valving is completely different.

Here is my opinion. The Zbroz or Raptors are more of a plush Cadillac ride. They work very well. The Floats work very well too. They seem a little more rigid. The one thing that I really, really like is the adjustability. You can make simple adjustments with your pressures, almost on the fly. I like being able to make simple adjustments very easily.

I have been very happy with my Floats, but I am not a suspension guru.

MH Thanks for the excellent analogy. Exactly the feedback I was hoping for. Im a BIG dude and spring rates never seem to be right and I've gotta ad too much pre-load. Im gonna probably do the rears as well.

Interesting on the rebound adjustment regarding compression. I re-valved my stock walker evans shocks and added compression shims and a hevaier 10wt fluid. made a noticable differnce. Hopefully the burandt valve specs are geared more to agressive riding and have a bit more compression dampening.
