I just rode my 600RR for the first time yesterday and had a little problem. The oil line melted closed then it got very hot under the hood from the pipe running too lean. Two questions: 1. how bad is my motor now that I rode it that way for a couple minutes? 2. Once I get the oil line replaced, how do I know it's oiling before I burn it up if I was lucky the first run and didn't ruin it? Thanks in advance for the help!!

Its hard to say but first thing I would do would be to pull the exhaust valves, plugs, and carbs/reeds and take a good look at your pistons. Possibly even post up some pics for the extremely knowledgable folks that we have here on this site to give you their opinion. Anytime ive ever disconnected my oil lines for whatever reason I always pull the plugs and pull the sled over a bunch of times to get the pump turning and once i see the lines fill up I put the plugs back in and add a pint of oil to the gas tank (just in case) and ride it

Good advise. I'll pull the exhaust valves tonight and see what I come up with. Just kind of a bummer.

Looks like I got lucky. Any one know the best way to make sure all air is out of the cooling system? I added a tunnel ext and the RR has the rear cooler that sticks up through the top and not sure if that may have started this whole problem.

Fill up the coolant system and jack up the front of the sled and start it up. While the sled is idling back off the bleeder screw on the head. Coolant will start to run out and there will be air bubbles if theres any air in the system. Repeat this a couple times until the airbubbles stop. Make sure while youre doing this that theres always coolant in the bottle.
