Need Help trying to pair my Baofeng to BCA

I am tryingto get my Baofeng UV5R to communicate with BCA radio. I used CHIRP to program A-F frequencies and uploaded to my radio, this didn't work so I obviously did something Wrong. I would like to be able to change channels when the BCA users change channels.

Here are the frequencies for BCA radios. Using CHIRP you should be able to program the Baofeng radio to work well with the BCA radios. I really didn't see the need for the privacy codes, so we all just use the straight channels and everyone is happy.

BC LINK-A 462.5625
BC LINK-B 462.6625 CTCSS 94.8
BC LINK-C 462.6375 CTCSS 131.8
BC LINK-D 467.5625 CTCSS 94.8
BC LINK-E 467.5875 CTCSS 97.4
BC LINK-F 462.675

Channel A and F have no privacy code (CTCSS)

The BC Link comes with preset channels from the factory:
A Channel 1 privacy code off
B Channel 5 privacy code 10
C Channel 4 privacy code 20
D Channel 8 privacy code 10
E Channel 9 privacy code 11
F Channel 20 privacy code off

Set a through f to the same channel. Prevents the Mic from changing channel when bumped.

Bca and garmin have the same 22 channels.

Get an ftdi programming cable and use software called chirp. The frs freq are built into it. When you open chirp it gives you a blank screen with a few pull down menus. The frs freq will be in one of the pull downs.

First dl from your radio. Save the file so, you can start over if you vertically fornicate the programming.

Like they are saying in the above posts, you need a programming cable and then the file that is built into chirp software. It's radio and computer stuff, so you may or may not get it figured out, worth a try cause you will have good radio's and save some money. wish I could help more. pm me if you want.

Thank you el_gato, I do have the programming cable, and the CHIRP software, and I have experience programming the radio. I've also got the basic FRS/GMRS channels you supplied in the spreadsheet. My confusion lies in the following:

1) the above posts show some BC channels with privacy codes, some without, some with the default offset, some with changes, and some of the posts imply that the BCA radios aren't using all 22 channels in the FRS/GMRS range. (Limited to channels A-F?)

2) I do not own a BCA radio, nor do I have a riding buddy that has one to test my configuration.

If you are suggesting that the BCA radios are configured with basic FRS/GMRS channels, then thank you, I'm good.

My motivation in my question is for personal safety. I can design my own channels with privacy codes for family communications. What I was hoping to do is add channels configurations known to work on the BCA radios so that if I find myself in a tight spot, I could call for help.

I was also hoping also to name my channels the same as BCA (Letters? Frequency? Other?) so if I did find I was riding with someone with BCA, it would be easy to get on the same channel with each other.

Having a little experience with CHIRP, I know that each of the Baofeng radios have different feature sets (I own the UV-82HP and the UV-5R) but the channel configuration tables are the same. I was hoping someone might either share a CHIRP file with configuration known to work with the BCA or copy and paste into an excel file for import into my own CHIRP file.

Do you know if BCA has one of the channels as a "distress channel"?

OK, I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I located an electronic manual for the BCA Link 2.0 radio online. In doing so, I believe I have answered all my questions.

I feel I need to apologize for cluttering the forum, but in the event it helps steer someone else to search for a manual, then it is adding knowledge somewhere

You're well on your way. What I did was import the chirp presets right into our UVR5's It gives you a starting address so I started like 10 down and left the top 10. You can find the FRS GMRS list and import to match the channels number for number too. You also can first export the .csv file and rename the channels there if you want.. I too didn't have BCA radios to test, but we found out if you put one of yours in search mode and have the FRS GMRS channels in your radios, it finds any BCA channel no problem. We met some people, one of us searched, told the rest what channel the BCA guys were on and we were all communicating. as for the security codes, we left everything as is and it worked like that. You can hear the secured channels but can't talk to the guys with the security, of course you can program the security into your radio in the field too if you punch the right buttons on the radio.

I've been trying to program mine with the BCA channels. I can't get a connection with the USB cable to use chirp.

I think I've got the frequencies right, I can receive, but not transmit. Do I need to input the CTCSS codes also? Do I need to do anything else?

It would be hard to tell from here, but if I was you I would try/buy another USB cable and use Chirp. with the import function of their .csv file you will know its programmed right, from there you need to match BCA channel to your's and it should work.you can import starting row to match BCA channel number to channel number. I heard there are some bad / cheap USB cables and that will cause make it much harder than it should be. I'd order another one.

I programmed the FRS and GMRS channels into my Baofeng using the menus on the radio itself. It’s very easy. You don’t need to mess with software, cables, etc.

The manual that comes with the radio is a joke, so download the manual at the Chinese radio documentation project. It’s written by an enthusiast and is very good.

From reading through this it looks like some people haven't realized that the BCA radios come with default frequencies programmed but they all can be changed to suit the users needs. It's pretty simple to change the BCA radios to have any of the 22 FRS/GMRS channels assigned to any of the letters on the mic via the menu and arrow buttons on the radio base unit. I'm still trying to figure out how the 121 "privacy codes/sub channels" align with CTCSS values.

I change mine in the field all the time to match the group I'm with but have a few channels that I keep pretty consistent. I also try to keep the two BCA radios that I have in the household matched at all times and generally leave the BCA E position on the dial set to 9-11 (E for Emergency) since this channel is monitored by the ski patrol at the local ski area. The default settings are just the starting point.

I'm still trying to figure out what all of the CTCSS values are for the rest of the 121 sub channels that are used by the BCA (or any FRS/GMRS) radios.
