hey guys im looking for some info on patterns and quantity, for studding the stock 144" track on my 2006 900 switchback!

i am concerned about putting studs in the center of my track, there's several rows with zero lugs in the center of the belt, and was wondering if it is safe to stud this area?? seeing as how there wont bea lug in front of or behind some of the studs! i'd think these studs would be prone to riping out!?!?

does anybody have a pattern or quantity for the 144" "crosscountry" camoplast track???

studboy just recomends 200 studs, and had no further info! woodys didnt offer any info! thanks dan

When i studded my 900 SB i used 171 woody's 1.375" gold diggers with big nutz! They r still on the original track with almost 4000 miles on it and no tear outs! Im a big believer in the gold diggers, almost every one of them still has a carbide tip! I like 3 studs in every window but i do my own pattern just using a template. U can do whatever pattern u want just make sure its even all the way around. It wont be completely even cuz there r 57 windows but u know what i mean. Make sure u just stud between the windows for the hyfax. DO NOT STUD THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRACK! If u stud the outside I can almost guarantee u will wreck ur track! Hope this helps!:face-icon-small-hap

thanks chunky and ghost, i guess my biggest concern is putting studs in the middle of the track where there are NO rubber lugs?!?!

did you install tunnel proteectors on your SB?? i have the 1,25" track, and i bought 1.375" studs, and stock drivers! i would think this machine has clearence for upwards of a 2" track and i will be no higher than 1.5" with the studs installed! do i need tunnel protectors is what im asking!???

I have a Switchback 900 with a 144 track studded. It did not have the tunnel protector when I purchased it or any marks in the tunnel. Now that I have a season and numerous jumps it is pretty scarred up. If you are a easy rider and dont catch any air I would say you may not be necessary to install tunnel protectors. I am a bit beyond prevention of scarring so I am not bothering to install them now and am upgrading my rear suspension.
