Need help mounting 36mm Flatslides to 84' Phazer

I have a pair of 36mm flatslides i'm going to mount on my 84' Phazer. Ive heard you need to modify or switch the carb boots between the engine and the carbs so the new carbs will mount right, Has anyone heard what needs to be done or has anyone actually done this mod?

36mm Flatslide Carbs
Gutted Airbox
Aaen Hi- Alt ported Cylinders
Wiseco SX cut Pistons (.40 Over)
1 Layer removed from head gaskets

That is a lot of work for the very minor gain you "may" see. You also would need to consider if you have a pipe, porting, head work. As I remember some of those carb parts are expensive, other than main jets. IMO I would save my money and try to find a good used 700 of some kind, lots of good ones around cheap.
