Need Help Diagnosing Electrical Problem!!

Ok, I had something go in the inspection hole of the stator and ruin the flywheel and stator. I have replaced both with band new polaris parts.
I went to start the sled, and it idled perfectly for 5-10 seconds, before I realized i forgot to plug in the headlight and gauge harness. So I shut off the sled and plugged in the harness and went to restart and nothing....I disconnected the harness and nothing... Its totally dead.
Did the original short in the stator fry my ECU? If so why did the sled idle for a few seconds before I shut it off?
Would it ruin the ECU if I started the sled with out plugging in the Headlight and gauge harness?

2014 Pro RMK.
NO E Start
It has a Carls 900 BB with Dynojet Power Commander. (I bypassed the power commander and still nothing, so I don't believe that its the PC).

:help: Big thanks in advance for any help.

the head light and gauge harness shouldn't have caused any problem I've done the same thing with no ill effect.i don't know on the rest

First thought that comes to mind is something is not right with the flywheel / key-way / crank. Sounds like maybe it was OK when started and then either as the engine came to a stop or on the next starting attempt something happened with the key way. Check the TDC mark and make sure it lines up when the piston is at TDC. Eric

Thanks,
I will check for sure, but really don't think so. I do see power lights on the PC when I pull it over so I think I'm getting power at least to the PC.

Hold it wide open and pull any difference? Did you work on anything else why you were in there?

You would still get power, its the timing that would be off if the flywheel has slipped. Eric

It's dead meaning it just wont start? Did you check spark at the plugs? try a new set of plugs and hold the throttle wide open when you start it. I bet it flooded, carls 900 kits are rich at idle anyway.

No spark, no headlight flicker when I pull it over either.

My guess is either the key fell out when you slid the flywheel on, and it is now turned and out of time. Or your voltage regulator fried when you ran it without the headlights hooked up. As the newer regulators serve both the ECU and normal regulation it may have taken the ECU as well. I would hope it's the first, as that option is the cheap one.

Thanks LoudHandle,
I think that is good advice to try the Voltage Reg first. I'm taking to dealer first thing in am to see if they can diagnose fairly quickly.
