Need help 05 RT 1000 fuel tank question

The little grommet that seals the bottom front corner of outlet to fuel pump has failed. I bought a new one, but can't figure out how to remove the top in-tank fuel pump to get to the inside of the tank. I twisted the big plastic lock ring after removing the fuel lines and dis-connecting the wires, but there seems to be a lot of hardware down inside and it seems that it doesn't want to just thread out. Will I cause problems if I just force it to thread out so that I can remove it to gain access to the inside of the tank? In other words, how the heck do I do this part replacement? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well everythibg in the top fuel pump should pull right out after removing the threaded ring, it may be sealed in tight but you should be able to break the seal and it should slip right out.

The plastic tube inside housing the pump and filter/ pickup , is slightly arched but will pull out.

Need help 05 RT 1000 fuel tank question - thanks Nitro

Thanks Nitro, finally dove in and figured it out. Fuel line inside the tank was toast also (thanks to ethanol fuel I would guess, won't run that crap in there again!), got it all back together, now I have to get the time to go see how it works. Thanks again.
