So I found out yesterday that I will be working in Seatle this summer. So this raised a huge ? for me,
Is there good stream flyfishing within in an hour or 2 of the seatle area? Im not sure what part of the city I will be living in yet.( Co picks the housing)
I'm sure there is prob good fishing on the ocean but I would rather do small creek type stuff since I won't have access to a boat. Any help would be appreciated. Bubba.

Yes, I don't fly fish but there are plenty of places up here that you can.

I see a lot of the whip crackers around in the different streams, never tried it but there's a lot of good fishing to be had up here. Go to http://wdfw.wa.gov and it'll give you all the info you'll need. The Skokomish, Carbon, Puyallup, Green, and more are all good rivers for hooking into the different varieties of salmon. Good luck and enjoy your time with the coasties :D

Fly-fishing is everywhere in Seattle, Sol-Duc, Wynoochee, plus about 10 more rivers. Go to a fly shop when you move there and just ask. You will be casting 10 feet next to your nearest fisherman and boy is it fun to fish with Coasty elitist's who think everything you do is wrong.... gotta love them lefties...

ya take a pole ......some line ....a bug ...an you toss it in da water ....

sorry bud thats about as technicaly as Im gonna get

Hey Bubba.
There are lots of nice streams to fly fish with no crowds.
If you are a decent guy there are a few of us on here that can show you around.
If your are a tool then you are on your own:eek:

Haha thats a great point. Not really a hard core purest. I just love to catch trout. Dunno what it is about it but its a great time. Wether its on spinning gear or my fly rod. Never really fallen in to the tool category ( as far as I know) If anyone from that area makes trips out to fish the south fork of the snake I would be willing to trade a few days on our jet boat for a day or to showing me around in WA. The thing that is a pain for me is I work 6 days a week in the summer but I have mornings off till about 2 in the afternoons. Sun is the only day off and I am mormon so that is kind of out. Everything will have to be within about a hour to an hour and half drive time since it will be morning only trips.

Children, children, children. Yeesh.

Back to the topic at hand: Another thing you might look into Bubba is local fly fishing clubs. My folks belong to one and really enjoy it.

Wired thanks for the advice, Also looked at the washington flyfishing web site, thanks for the link has alot of good info on it. Sorry for the detour there boys. As far as elitist, I am about as far from the purest fly fisher you will ever meet. Throw Raps and Minnows prob more than flys. Its all about catching fish not nec. what you catch it with. Kind of like sledding, who cares what you ride as long as you ride and enjoy it.
