Need an inexpensive .22 rifle

I am looking for an inexpensive .22 cal rifle. I dont know too much about different kinds of guns or anything, I would use the gun for hunting coyotes and small game.

I'm not a hunting expert and don't know lot's about guns but I do go coyote hunting allot and I’m thinking a .22 is a little weak for them. I personally would get a .223 good for coyotes, small game and I even shot my first deer with a .223.

Can't go wrong with a 10-22 from Ruger, or for compact find a armalite AR-7.

But to wack a coyote step up to a 223, the ammo is cheap, or a 22-250 but the ammo is more

Hi Point 9mm or .45 Carbine (yeah pistol ammo) I've got one. Bought it for about $245 w a camo 3-9 Scope (cheap tasco white tail 2). There a a few forums that show ideas to modify them to change the stock, optics, flash supressors etc. I bought an aftermarket stock for about $60 and changed it from this.

Not cheap, but it will fu*k up a coyote. :D
A .22 is not enough for a humane killing of a 'yote.

if your talkin .22 rimfire, i like my good old marlin tube feed. ive never been a fan of clip fed .22s to hard to reload in a hurry and my brothers rem. 597 and old mans 10-22 both seem to jam more than mine. if your lookin for cheap just to screw around with the cheapest semi auto .22s around here are the mossberg plinksters i got a couple buddies with them and they seem to work ok. as for coyotes i agree with the others a .22 might not cut it, my buddy has a .204 which is a pretty sweet little gun, i dont know much about it though other than it is very accurate and fast and will blow the side out of jack rabbit:).

For a cheap .22, I would recommend a Remington 597 or Marlin Model 60. They are both more accurate out of the box than a stock 10/22. They can both be had for well under $200 also. I got my 597 brand new for $149 and the wal mart here sells Mod. 60's for in the $150 range also.

Here's my 597

For coyotes I would go with something bigger though, .22 mag at least, .223 would be even better. Maybe a NEF Handi Rifle?

I picked up a 10-22 on the advice from this forum:

I find it very accurate but I'm far from experienced with firearms.

Whats wrong with a ruger 10/22? great gun. I like all of mine, but I really really like my Marlin 60SB :) more accurate for my cheaper stuff. If you want top grade stuff Anshutz is pretty hard to beat :face-icon-small-ton

Buying a gun is a lot like snowmobiling, once you start you can't stop. Here is a pic of some of my other toys. My wife calls it a problem, I call it an obsession. :D

after getting my savage .17hmr my .22 rims have been collecting dust.

I agree, I like the 17 hmr. It has more range and a good punch. The only thing is it affected by the wind at long ranges. I bought a marlin for $209 brand new. This will take down a coyote.
