Need air intake parts

I am wanting to install a Fire n Ice air intake on my 900 but all the stock intake parts are gone. It has an aluminum box that goes up front to where the rad used to be. It's a vanamburg(I think). I would like to get rid of it but I need to come up with the stock boost box, the headlight access cover that goes under the hood, all the gaskets, seals, filters, and anything else you think I'll need. I could go new but I figured someone's got some used stuff they've taken off or swapped out. And if anyone has an FNI kit they'd sell let me know. Thanks, Sonny

I also would like to put a REAL bumper on the front after I get the intake done so if anyone has any suggestions or somethin for sale let me know.

Has anyone built their own intake system? After researching the design and cost of what's available, I'm seriously considering building one myself. Having virtually no intake parts to work with as it is, instead of spending 150 in stock parts and then another 300+ for an aftermarket system, why not just build some plumbing and install a couple k&n filters? Anyone have any experience or ideas? Or should I just shell out the dough and not mess with it?

Dmax, research some threads here under the 900 forum i believe i saw some threads on home made air intake creations for the builders sleds. Good Luck!

I've read a bunch about all the different aftermarket intakes but haven't seen anything about custom builds. Thanks WHEREDAFUGAWEE, I'll keep lookin.

I will keep my eyes open too i seem to recall seeing a SW member build an air intake using two pieces of radiator hoses, heavy duty plastic pvc pipe and two K&N filters.

Alright, I'll let ya know if I need one. I'm workin on building one out of the box I have but we'll see how it goes, thanks Super Dave3.

Here's a question a little off the subject, I pulled my tb boots and reeds out and found out it has vforce reeds but I'm wondering if they were installed upside down. The vforce logo was facing down the the flare that goes around the outside of the cage was facing up. Is this correct or should the flare be on the bottom? The farther I go into this dam thing the more sh** I find wrong. There's chunks missing out of the reed petals and they're all distorted, just another item on a quickly growing list of sh** that needs fixed, but I guess that's what you get with a used sled. Sorry for the ***** session but it's getting a little frustrating, and expensive. Again, thanks for all the help you guys have provided, I'd really be F'd if I didn't have you.

One of the three sleds I am currently working on has v-force reeds and the logo faces down.I don't know why that is that is just the way it was when I took it apart. I just put the motor back together a few days ago and I don't remember a flare on it.It doesn't mean there wasn't one,I just don't remember it.

As far as the bad reeds go,In my opinion I didn't think the v-forces made much of a difference. There is probably someone here that has more experience with them than me.

Good luck!

If you need reeds I have some stockers with less than 100 miles on them. If you compare the stockers to V-Force the stockers look like they would flow mch better.

Ok,I just went and looked at a set of stock reeds. On the stockers the back of the tb boot extends into the reed cage about 1/2 inch all the way around. Is this the flare you are talking about? If so,on the v-forces that flare is cut off all the way around so that nothing extends into the reed cage.

I hope this helps.

I went and ordered some replacement petals and gaskets today so that's taken care of. As for the flare, it's molded plastic on the inner section if the reed cage. It extends about 1/2 inch out on one side and tapers flush on the other side. I'll get pics tomorrow so you can see what I'm talkin about. The flare was facing up when I pulled it apart but it almost looks like it's upside down, like the flare should face down, but maybe it's right, I don't know.

Thanks, for the offer superdave. I'll just replace the petals and call er good.
