Need Advise for New Sled

Looking to upgrade, wife and I have ridden older Arctic Cats, Polaris, now ride a 02 Skidoo. What sled is best for boondocking, Not brand loyal. Going to make an investment need sound advise. At the end of the day on the 02 I feel like I have been beaten. Really wanting a great sled that I can ride like I stole it. Again not brand loyal.

Thanks,

John

IMO the best thing you can do is figure out what sleds you have in mind whatever they maybe, and GO RIDE THEM! Find a buddy with one or rent one for a day. No one can tell you what sled is going to feel good to you. Honestly when you throw brand loyalty out the window they are all good sleds.

M sleds and Dragons would probably be the easiest sleds for you to feel comfortable on right away. Do some research as to who is the best dealer in your area and buy from them. Nothing worse than buying a new sled and finding out that the dealer is a moron when you need service.

Buddies are all Skidoo. But been thinking of the M8 or Dragon. Going to ride the M8, got feed back that it might be the best for riding style and size. keep the feedback comming

Solid Dealer

Agreed, make sure you like the dealer in your area and they have a solid reputation.
If that checks out good, then my recommnedation would be an Arctic Cat M8 153.

Ride your buddies new sleds. Or find a good dealer, and ride the demos they have. Good luck:)

Once you throw out brand loyalty, like said they all make good sleds anymore. Try to ride some of the new stuff and see which one you are most comfortable on. Biggest thing I would point out is a good dealer. You can usually pull into any small town and find out quickly which flavor has the best shop. Pull into the local gas station early on a saturday morning and 3 out of 4 sleds on trailers fueling are all brand "x". There is usually a reason for that. Same thing at the riding area that the locals frequent, 3 out of 4 will be a certain brand. Therre is usually a reason beyond well thats what my buddies ride. It is usually that the dealer that sells that brand has the best parts and service dept.....Good luck with your decision. Hard to pick a bad sled, easy to pick a bad dealer!

ok, not brand loyal.
A sled that is perfect for me (polaris) doesn't work for other people, same with Cat and Doo.

Figure out which dealers in your area are any good (you can get info on each dealer on here).

Next figure out your budget (dont' forget to account for things like bags and such for the sled).

Then go do some test rides. Ride a few different sleds, get a feel for em. Ride different size sleds. Just because you can afford a cat1000 doesn't mean it will be a good motor for you. Also ride different length tracks. I'm not talking about taking a couple turns around a pounded field. take them on a day ride, ride them like you would if you owned them.

You are talking a lot of cash. Take your time and do it right.
Just because your buddy rides a Poo and loves it, doesn't mean you will love it.
You may end up on a Doo and your wife on a cat.

dont buy a ski-doo they are having engine probablems again i would go with a M8 they are the all around sled, and the RMK 700 is right behind the M8. the M8 has the best track out there to.

Great deals on new '08 skidoo xp's-factory rebates are killer. All new sleds have their advantages. However, doos definitely pull harder and are great in powder.
