Looking at buying a 2012 polaris pro 163 with a silber turbo and boot-it fuel system 430 miles

1 is that a decent working system paired together

2 what should I look for when inspecting the sled

3 Guy said, he does not now alot about the tuning with the fuel box, and when he had it in at a shop, it had a couple of det codes up..... should I be worried ( will be bringing a bore scope )

Any other help would be great, this would be my fist turbo and do not want a piece of garbage do to a lack of experience.

I think it's a bad idea to buy a turbo sled from someone who built it who doesn't know what their doing when it's your first turbo. That's a great combo, the Silber turbo is a good kit at a great value with some amazing customer service to back it up. The boost it system is simple to use and fine-tune-able. Also Neil backs it by a 100% money back of your not satified, which says a lot in this industry.

I feel that a first turbo should be put on by someone who knows what they are doing and is willing to stand behind their install work and tuning, or is willing to let you be there to help do the install. There is so much more goin on under the cowling that needs to be understood in a turbo and it is a steep learning curve. There is a lot of benefit to knowing how every part works, how it works in the system, and how to take it all apart and repair it if nessicary, or rig it to get you out of somewhere with out burnin down a motor.

If it was installed correctly and has been issue free for the current owner then it will be a great sled for you, but If you go that route I suggest you read through the install instructions till you at least know the basics by heart (I keep a digital copy on my phone) do a lot of research on not just how it goes together, but why it is that way, and if you can do some rides or kill some beer with people who run them. There's a wealth of knowledge out there to be had just by picking someone's brain.

Sorry ......:frusty::frusty::frusty:I should have added that he had a very experienced builder put together the kit, in fact he recommended that he went with the boost-it system over the stock silber kit.

I understand how a turbo kit works, but the tunning boxes used for each kit is a whole nother story.

thank you for your response, I also believe that the pairing of the two kits is a good match.:bounce::bounce:

MOST LIKELY a "couple of det codes" are nothing to worry about. The det sensor is very sensitive. There were problems with a bolt hitting the chassis last year that caused det codes amount other things. The det sensor was registering detonation when there wasn't any detonation. That is a great combo, what I would do if I was going to turbo my Pro(or a stock Silber kit).

It may be a great combo, but remember if problems arise and you cant get it running spot on there can and will be finger pointing.

It's a great combo. I have a 2011 with a 12 Sil er kit and boost it setup and love it. Way easier to tune than a dobeck and my throttle response is a lot better than when I had the other box on it

He did not have to tell you about the codes , he seems honest

Who installed the boost-it system , did Neil do the job him self or did someone else?

Call Neil ( boost-it ) ask him about the codes , 430 miles , all boosted ? , what boost (lbs) was he running ? , what fuel was he running ? is he running Neils ( boost-it ) water-air intercooler?
