Need a little help

Tried searching and didn't find what I needed so I'm sorry if this has been discussed!
I took my new-to-me '06 900 switchback out today. It ran great for the first 20 miles or so. Then it started to cut out if I ran over 1/2 throttle. By the time I got it back to the truck I could barely get it to pull 4000 rpm and anything more than very light throttle would cause it to die and then backfire when I let off the throttle. If I let it idle for a few seconds I could get a very short burst of power from it. This leads me to think I have a fuel delivery problem. No CEL's, display stays on, etc.
Back home I pulled the plugs because, well, thats the first thing I always check on a 2 stroke! They were a bit dirty but not bad. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the port on the fuel line and it pegged my 100psi gauge at idle.
How do I tell if this sled has had the fuel tank upgrade that I have read about here? This sticker is on the air box but darned if I can read what service bulletin number that is! Any ideas?
Thanks, Phil

fuel pressure should be 116psi. so could be bad fuel pressure regulator...but they dont sell them anymore..so you will have to get a used pump and use that part off it, or replace your pump assembly..

the fuel float update is simple..if you have a black float you have the OLD flaot, if you have a while float, its the NEW updated one.

I would replace the fuel filter first thing... you may have a partial block that is not allowing sufficient flow... it could also be a line in the tank coming apart and getting sucked into the pump restricting flow.... it HAS been known to happen on occasion.

And the winner is........ 94fordguy! Fuel line in the tank is completely broken in many small pieces. How hard is this to replace? I'm gonna get a new line and fuel filter if I can this afternoon. Many thanks everybody!

fuel pressure

the characteristics u describe seem to mimic the same problem i also had when my fuel pressure regulator went out...mine was just giving unregulated direct pressure

The local Poo dealer seems to be having trouble getting the right parts from polaris to fix this! Also says they have 3 other '06's with the same problem. Can I just replace the line in the tank with some generic type tubing or do I need the polaris parts kit? Dealer also wants to replace the fuel pump which I am not sure is bad would feel better if it was replaced at this point also. Never know how much crap got sucked into it.
Does anybody have a recall number for the tank recall? The service writer doesn't seem to know anything about it.

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks Z-man. I picked the sled up from the dealer today and have been looking on ebay for a replacement setup. Jeez, used unknown stuff is sure expensive! Is an '05 pump and lines assy the same as an '06? Been working enough overtime it just might be easier to buy the left over '11 600 RMK at the dealers! I don't really need to go over 100mph...
