Need a little help pulling the secondary on my '05 M7

Any advice on the easiest way to pull it off? It is a lot different than my '07 M8. There is the piece on the end that needs the special tool. Why wouldn't I just loosen the bolt that is in the middle of that thing to get that off? And once it's off is there just another bolt to remove?

Use the special adjuster tool provided with the toolkit, a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the plastic adjuster. The adjuster turns off clockwise.

Now that the adjuster is out of the way, take a look into the secondary. You'll see a bolt head with a hole in it that retains the secondary onto the splined input shaft of the DD. The bolt head is a 9/16" and you'll need an extension.

Just pull the center allen bolt out. The clutch is splined so wiggle it back and forth and it should come off. It sounds like you have a belt deflection adjuster like from BD-xtreme that the bolt goes thru.

That could be. I forgot to mention that it isn't plastic. It looks like it's aluminum. I can take it off either by using the special three prong tool, or I can take it off by taking out the alan head bolt in the center of it. If I take out the alan head bolt, the whole thing has to be wiggled a little but it comes does eventually come out. Then I think i can probably take the bolt out that holds the clutch on?

It sounds like whatever i have isn't stock. Can someone tell me what it is and what it does for me? Thanks

Sounds like a BDX deflection adjuster. It doesn't strip out like the stock plastic one.

I've got the BDX on my '05 M7. Once you take the allen head bolt out the clutch should come off. There is no other bolt inside and there is no need to pull the aluminum deflection adjuster out. If it's not sliding off after the allen head is out it may be rusted on. May need some gentle persuasion.
