Need a little help--'06 Apex Mtn

I just bought this sled and need some help. I have no clue when it comes to clutching. The sled was bought in Laramie, Wyoming. We brought it back to western ND. The elevation here is about 2500'. We took it out today and it is hitting the rev limiter big time. Conditions are tough right now with icy/crusty snow so it is hard to watch the tach close. I caught several glaces at it and it looks like we are around 11,000+ RPM. I would assume we should be closer to 10,500 RPMs, right? Will this straighten out at higher elevation? What do we need to do clutching wise for around here. I hate to have to keep changing setups for different elevations. I would like to set it up with a happy medium and just ride it.

Let me know your thoughts please.

A lot of mountain riders use the shockwave adjustable helix, it costs about $200 and would allow you to easily adjust clutching for low or high elevation.

Sounds like right now it is set up for high elevation.

I like my max RPM to be 10800.

Is there anything we can do to the secondary to compensate for the over reving? Again, excuse my ignorance of clutching. I would like to find a happy medium and just leave it. This sled is going to be riden by my 65+ year old dad and he isn't worried about squeezing every HP out of it.
 
If you did not want to spend any money, you might be able to put the secondary spring in the loosest setting and keep the RPM down some, still might not be enough though.
 
My 06 Apex easily hits the rev limiter when conditions are hardpack/ icy. When ridden in deep pow, the engine will run 10,700 rpm. If I were you, I would wait till you try it in some deeper snow conditions. You probably are clutched correctly.
 
The snow here in western ND right now has a crust on it (we had rain on top of the snow and high winds). In the stubble fields it is about 10" deep with a crust on the top. The sleds are easily breaking through the crust.

My TRX-1 runs just fine but the Apex hits the limiter almost imediately.
 
1) more primary weight, rivets are easy to swap, go 13.3 steel in all holes
2)run blue-pink-blue primary spring
3)change gears to 22/40 (maybe)
4)shockwave helix set at about 43-48 deg

That should be a good start....IMHO

I clutch to just tap the rev limiter on hardpack and run 10,500 or so in the 3foot fluff
