I feel you, just had mine go out today. Long tow out in deep snow, my idea of fun. :face-icon-small-win Damn snowmobiles, gotta love them.

yeah i thought it was just a top end turns out the whole motor went to sh!t gonna be a long built but that comes with the sport

I had a crank go out this year. I found a donor crank out of a 01 800. Lindsay machine took the 2 bad cranks and build me one good one for $138. Find someone with a 800 or 900 crank that is bad and take both to a machine shop. Or ship it to lindsay. They are GREAT guys!

Thanks for the heads up Rixster, I'll probably go this route if I can find a crank with a good mag side. Lindsay machine is probably 10 minutes from me. Tore into the motor today. Pulled off the head, PTO piston was severely damaged, pieces missing. Rod bearing on that side was gone. I blew a belt earlier in the day on Mirror Lake highway racing a buddy.
:boom:

Thinking that maybe this caused the crank to go out of true and I was getting air into the cylinder from the crank seal? However, I was watching my EGTs and never saw them get over 1200 F, but wasn't watching them when this happened. Small climb on hardpack and motor started running on one cylinder, started it back up and didn't sound good. Towed out through deep snow, took about 4 hours to go a couple miles to the highway. Glad I was with some good buddies that helped me get it out.

idcatman might have what you need. If I remember right he said he had lots of crank parts from building those triples.

Quick question, is it possible that when my rod bearing went it allow the piston to hit the head insert causing damage to the piston? Does look like fuel was part of the issue, but there is a lot of damage to the exhaust side of the piston. Most of the metal is stuck in the head insert.
