I've been back and forth on this for a long time now and would like some advise from you please. All 3 manufacturers have great offerings in powder sleds for 09 and I just cant decide which way to go.
What to do?
I am looking in the 800 range with a 144-151 track, and ride strictly off trail in Ontario Canada where the riding is very tight and technical because of the trees and terrain.
A consideration is,how well does the brands engine respond to mods?
This is my ride now.

Ride that ^^^ for another season and see what's new for the 2010 sleds.

The cost to trick out another mountain sled from scratch when one already has one done is

well from what i have read on sw is if you are in trees the summit is the only sled to have.LOL

The cats engines respond best to mods and are going to be around 30 pounds lighter for 09 plus its easy to pick up some good power on the 8's and 1000's with some bolt on's. Obviously the 09summits are the lightest option and shoud be pretty bulletproof this year with most of the problems from 08 being addresed. Then their is the polaris which I think handles pretty similar to the M chassis and should be pretty solid as well, the Assault might be an option for ya. My guess would be for resale the summit will probally hold its value best considering poo and cat are probally going to a new chassis for 2010. Myself I'm looking at the 09 Summit more than the rest. Just my 2cents.:beer;

Ya,once skidoo gets all the bugs out, the xp summit should be a good sled more like in 2010 than the 09 season.I am leaning that direction to but still think Cat is next on my list, then Polaris.
I should probably ride what I have one more year so I dont rush into anything.
And wait to see what happens for 2010.
Thanks for the reply.

Probally a good idea, I would wait at least another year on the Cat's especially with the electrical issues I saw with my 08 M8 snopro..JMO

Let me know how you like your new ride.
I talked to a guy while out riding last season who said that when he bought his rev summit it was the best sled he's ridden until he bought the summit xp which blew the rev out of the water.
Hard to beleive there is that much difference between the 2.
The turbo Nitro is not even a consideration for my application.
I rode with a guy on a regular Nitro last season and he had nothing good to say about it,and was going to sell it.
He was one of the only guys that day that didnt run out of gas though.

coming off an 06 summit 800 151 and geting on a 09 M8 153 I have ridden all 08's except yamaha and I just had so much fun on the cat, sidehilling(especially the sidehilling), trees, ravines, even on the trail back to the truck. the only thing I'll miss with the summit is the awesome wheelies:D
