Please send me a PM is you have any old Moutain Max parts laying around. I got one for my son and it needs a bunch of parts replaced. Please let me know if you happen to have any of them available.

Front bumper
seat or seat cover
skis - anything other than the stock steel skis with ski skins
Right steering rod
Right spindle
Primary clutch
Track - longer
light weight exhaust canister
single pipe and exhasut manifold
fuel pump
mountain bar of some sort
tail light lense
dash panel that the gauge pod mounts into
Mesh cover that goes over airbox inlet holes
Reeds and reeds spacers
traction for the foot wells

I could also use some setup advice as far as clutching, track length, ski selection, etc

Thanks guys

I should have most of what you need, I am doing a cleanup around my place this weekend. I will let you know Moday with what I have................SRXtreme

Thank you.

I think I found an exhaust can.
I did find the steering links that slide over the splined spindle shaft but, I still need a right steering rod.
I would love a set of carbon tech or Boysen reeds and reed spacers

I need to add a few more things to the list.

The snow deflector that goes over the top of the airbox vents
Left side panel - maybe

Thanks guys

I am starting at ground zero with this Mountain max. It's so stock it's scary. I have a RX-1M I have done up and I had a MSRX before the the RX-1 so I understand setting up a sled but, this sled isn't for me. It's for a 12 year old son.
That's why I'm shying away from triples right now. I would like to go longer on the track but keep the stock 9 tooth drivers (I guess). Can I fit a 2" track in there without changing drivers? What about performing the Hartman or Mountain Performance mod moving the skid back. I did that on my MSRX. The approach angle looks horrible on this thing.
As far as helixes go. I have no clue what I need just yet. I don't even know if the track will stay at 136 x 1 3/4" or go to 144" or 151" yet.

I think a set of Apex mountain skis might be fun on the sled too.

Keep the parts coming.

Thanks

I went to 8 tooth extrovert drivers. I would also change the driveshaft if it is a pre-2002 Mtn Max. They were bad shafts if you add a longer track and/or more power. They will break-believe me (after a $1500 repair bill).

I went with a 159" x 2" track and still love the sled. I use this sled as my backup sled ('03 TRX-1). I have SLP triples with Hartman clutch setups. The sled totally rips. I think the gearing is at 19-41??? We also have another 99 Mtn Max at 144" x 2". Still a fun sled, but can't handle the really deep powder.

I sent you an e-mail with the pics that we PM'ed about. If you think of anything else that you might need just let me know. I think I have enough parts to almost build another sled.LOL

Thanks for the help.

I'm starting to think I should have probably spent the extra money and bought a MM in nice shape. It would have been cheaper than replacing all of the damaged parts on this sled but, it will be a great father son adventure to build this sled into some thing to be proud of.

Now, how long to go on the track for a kid. How long can I go without a tunnel extension? I think it would look cool with a little track sticking out the back. Maybe a 144" or a 151" would be the best compromise?

Best skis to use - I'm leaning toward Apex Mountain skis.

I think I'll stick with the stock single pipe with a lightweight can until he gets bored with the power of the stock sled.

Gearing - I guess that depends on what track I end up going with.

Helix - same thing

What about clutch weights? This primary is shot. I have never seen a primary clutch that has grooves into the sheaves like this one does. No wonder everything is covered in belt dust. The stock 8CR weights are still in there for now. What do you suggest for weights, rollers and primary spring for 4-7,000 feet?

Bar risers? How high is just about right for a bar riser on this sled?

Thanks for the help guys.

Re-location kit is a must with a 151 just to make it more forgiving. Means less pulling for you. Stock RX-1 ski,s work awesome and are cheaper tham aftermarket. My 99 I got away with 2 " bar-risers without replacing cables. 600's are pretty limited for aftermarket power but great for learning. My little 700 still puts a smile on my face and doesn't hurts as much when it does the occasional barrel roll.

Does anyone still have the templates from the Hartman or MPI appraoch angle improvement modification? I can't remember how far back to move the front skid mount hole. Huh.... maybe I should put a M7 skid on here like I did on my Rx-1M?

This is getting really exciting to think about building a freerider with my son. He will grow into it but, I don't want to throw the 159" and triple pipes at him just yet.

Thanks for the assist guys!
