Narrowing my 02 800 RMK ????

02 800 RMK with Fabcraft cf t-arms. I have read several threads about this, but there are those that say cut 1/2 off of each end of your radius rods, and some mention steering tie rods also. Do both need done or can the steering accomodate narrow radius rods by altering the spindle clamp position? Do the radius rods need driilled and tapped deeper once you cut them off, or is there enough thread already there?

Thanks

The radius rods are hollow. 1/2" should be doable and still have enough threading in there.

I cut my radius rods and tie rods down by 1". I did have to drill and tap all of the rods but that is because I cut the 1" off only the one end of the rods so I didn't have to take them off the sled. It worked out perfect and saved time setting the frontend back to spec. Hope this helps.

You said you had to drill at tap them when only cutting off the one end? What size drill bit and tap did you use? Its not a reverse thread is it? how did it affect the handeling of the sled?

I just measured the rod ends when I had them out. Any decent tap and die set should get you started. The radius and tie rods on my escape are hollow so I only had to drill them out enough so that the tap would cut new threads and not damage the old threads in the process . The out side rod ends were all right hand thread. The sled handles much better in the mountains now when sidehilling.
