Narrowing Assault front end...which shocks?..

Picked up a new leftover snow check Assault Rmk with 155 powder track. Ordered Dan's alt impact narrow front end. What to do for shocks?

Should I have Andy ( gas shock repair) cut down the stock clickers shocks to the correct length? I'm concerned about the spring on the stock Assault shock and if it will be too stiff for this narrow setup.

Another option I'm thinking of is to pick up a stock set of W/E clickers off a 15 PRO snow check?

I suppose buying some other springs for the assault shocks could be an option, I'm just not familiar with spring rates and such.

I also have a set of stock W/E from a 13 PRO that I could do something with as well.

Btw I weigh in at 170# wet.

Thanks

Use the stock shocks from the 13 pro, give you a good feel if you like the spring rate or not. If you then want the clickers, send them out to be shortened and let them know the spring you want.

Stock springs from the Assault without swaybar will be good and the length will still be OK.

Stock Pro RMK shock 2011 -2015, AND 2015 snowcheck with resi, at 16-5/8" eye-to-eye length... the spring is 10.25" with 100lb rating.

The Assault has an 11.0" long spring with 130 lb rating.

You can run up to a 12" spring on stock 16-5/8" WE shocks.

If you are going that route... and you want to get back to stock front ride height... have the shocks shortened by Andy at GSR to the 16-5/8" length and also run a 3/8" spacer/shim inside...That way... The shocks can be returned to stock PRO RMK 16-5/8" length AND still give you ideal ride height. Max spring length you can run on the shimmed shock which ends up at 16-1/4" eye/eye.... is 11.75" spring length.

You CAN run them at 16-5/8" shock length with the 36" wide front ends... though the ride height will be different than stock.

If you plan ahead and talk to Andy before sending them in... you could express ship them on a Monday and have them back for the following weekend use.

Drill the tunnel and move the front swing arm tunnel-bolts to the upper position for better powder function.

That will be a great combo and a great shock..

Make sure to use synthetic oil in the service... IMO... specify Amsoil 5W "Shock Therapy" oil... will hold up much longer than the stock Walker mineral based oil.

At this point, sell the assault Arms as they will no longer be able to be used as spares.

I'm going to be running the same set up as you I just ordered a 36 kit from Dan. I was thinking about getting the assault shocks shortened but I decided to order a set of fox evols that way I have my stock a arms and shocks for a back up. And will be able to use them in the spring for jumping if I don't like the narrow set up you loose a lot of front travel with the 36 inch kit.

I'm going to a 36" and Assault RMK springs ($37)on stock 13'PRO shocks .. if that doesn't work definatly going with Raptors

I'd start with that seems as you have the parts in your toy box already !!

Did you do 36" kit or 39" kit? You will lose a lot of travel having the shocks shortened over 2" to fit the 36" kit. If its the 39" kit, I have seen a few guys shorten them and work perfectly. Andy is the man if you are shortening them. You should be pretty happy with them. Spring will be fine especially if you run no sway bar which the assault didn't have anyway.

Going with a 36" kit, going to put some Raptors on it. Keeping the stock font end parts in tact in case I get rid of next year
