Been thinking about building a stock bore NA sled with hi compression heads and run on straight race gas. Pipe, porting, heads, programmer.

Have two sleds, one for sea level and other for elevation.

Anyone tried this at either elevation? If so what programmer, pipe, porting, etc?

Hi

I'm thinking of the same, high comp head, porting, PCVi and maybe, twin pipes made for more then 8300rpm.... :)
@1500ft with either AVgas or racegas.

But this kind of motors/tunes seems pretty unusual in this day and age....

I have porting, a head, jaws pipe and boondocker box On my axys 800. I ride from 2000-5000'. Got about 1200 km on this setup, and it flat out rips. This package came from Brent linderman at arcticedge motorsports. Can't say enough good things about him 100% happy.

Well I just got done testing my SLP stage 3 set up and I'm going to have it ported this summer. I cannot believe the difference between stock and the stage 3, which is the heads and single pipe. Just for example I went from running 10-60's and a 56/40.36 helix and pulling around 8200 at 9,500 ft to pulling 63.2 grams with a 62/42.40 and pulling 8350 to 8400 rpm's at one thousand feet higher and 25 to 30 degrees warmer temperatures! The stock setup seems to bog down at the end of a pull and the SLP set up just keeps pulling :) I'm also running The Bully Dog programmer and 8000 foot plus heads that are 13.8 to 1 compression ratio, you can run those just on pump gas but I added a gallon or 2 of 110 Octane per tank just to be safe. It ran absolutely flawless and the only hiccup was when I was in the rev limiter :face-icon-small-hap

If you did race gas, then we could run a different timing curve too with more advance. Especially with the pipe and head, they like timing, as long as you have the octane. We have 15:1 dome that would work really well. You don't want to get too carried away with the porting. But just do our pipe mod or new pipe, billet head, and the Powercommander with enhanced timing curve, and it will run! Reliable and powerful.
If you look at dynotech's website, we have won the Axys single pipe shootout 3 years in a row now.

Thanks for the info SSI, I'll remember that.

How well would just running the 15:1 head work without the pipe, tune, etc?

We have tested with the 14:1 head with the stock pipes and it works very well. We changed the dome design to a spherical radius style pocket and then a wider and tighter squishband. So the power gain's aren't just from the compression.
You should be able to run the 15:1 domes with no fuel controller with the stock pipe too, as long as you have the proper octane for your elevation. For example 100 octane for above 5000 feet elevation should be fine. If you're up near 11-12000 feet you could probly get away with 91-93 octane again.
But that is why we run the 14:1 head. It works really well at all elevations over about 5000 feet.
