My Van Amburg Cooler Kit

so did you do all the welding on the sled or? Did you have to cut the stock crossover tube?

cooler

All the welding was done on the sled. I cut the crossover in the middle and
removed about one eight. Put the square piece in that came with the kit
and welded it in.

have seriously been considering doing this to mine. can't be good for the engine on setup days to be running 40-50 degrees hotter than normal temps. theres just not always enough soft pow to keep it cool!!! how long did it take? do you think it could be riveted in instead of bolted? had some bad luck replacing a cooler on one of my older sleds, should have used 2 nylock's:) anyone else already running one of these, if so how did it work???

I couldn't figure out why you had to cut the cross over tube for a minute. You have to block that cross over so the water has to flow through the cooler correct? I'm putting on a Silber turbo kit on a Pro and that has to generate more heat so I have been thinking about doing a supplemental cooler. That said I haven't heard one person who did a turbo on a pro complain about over heating. Strange.

I threw out this idea to Mike about 4 years ago for the Dragon...He wasn't interested at the time... good to see he came around.

VE's fabwork is top notch!!

Keep em cool!!

great idea, so its a weld in kit? no way to attach it without the welding? shame they used square tube on the crossover.

cooler

It took me 2 or 3 hr to mount the cooler and prep the crossover tube. It took my welder about an hour to weld it. It took Mike 3 or 4 days to make and send me the cooler. Keeping the crossover tube solid was a good idea of Mike's. When I cut it, the tunnel was very flexible. You could use rivets but I had these ss nylock bolts.

Cooler Test

WE road the last four weekends at Elk River Id. We had good snow to icy conditions.

It was a good test for the new cooler. It was easer to control the temp.

When it was hard and icy I had to put the scratchers down and the temp went from 156

to the 120's right away. I didn't have to use the scratchers as often or as soon

as last year.
