I bought one of the same vintage.

1) exhaust tends to rust out at one point near the recoil. Letting it go means a melted cowl.

2) Reeds and boots were cracked causing inconsistent operation

3) Get trail adaptor if you are not riding in huge expanses.

4) My jetting was rich during the first part of throttle and lean at the top.
Im at 1000ft and it had a 17 pilot 350 main.
AD says 15 pilot and 400 main with new muffler.

5) The rings were already changed by the time I got mine but the 04 were bad in all machines that have that engine.

6) Upgrade to the newest snowtracker ski components, makes all the difference in the world on everything except pure powder. Availible form AD. 200 bucks

ok now i am geting spooked are you telling me that i bought a 2004
i was told its a 2005!! the ownership dosent state what year it is atleast not that i can tell!

Oh its probably an 05, I was under the impression the 05 had the newer exhaust guess it doesnt.. You will be fine they are very tough machines.
 
The hole in the pipe is caused by a small brace where the expansion chamber narrows to the diameter of the exhaust pipe. The 05 may have excluded this brace because of the problems it caused. If you do have a hole its easily sealed by a welder.
