My intake/carb icing/snow buildup mods/fix/solution

I made a filter intake with an outerwears prefilter an a cage into a 2-3.5 silicone adapter...

I cut out a flap/cover to go from the fender down almost to the chain and zip tied it to the frame. Seems to me like it should work well... Haven't tested it yet but there is adequate flow to the filter and substantial protection from snow kicked up off the track.

Just a first attempt that I'm hoping will be a good solution...

Nice job.. Hopefully that works out for ya..

But a question off topic here, how longs it usualy take ya to use that muff pot, with snow flicking up there it must take a while hey?

I haven't got to try it yet. Just had it laying around and figured I would try it haha

your intake should be fine there, but your carb is gonna ice. well, maybe not this weekend cuz its gonna be hot out..

what you should really be working on is getting me that shaft so you can have suspension!!

also zip tie your prefilter to the tube, i get a lot of fluff into it from there

it was pretty warm out when we rode this weekend so his did really good for staying warm enough to melt snow off, but in general the snow likes to freeze to the carb and any moisture going through tends to pile up in the air bleeds in the carb inlet and then the bikes run poorly at best.

So far this is working for me although it hasn't been to cold lately, prior to this mod I was having freezing problems.

The carb was shielded with a piece of crazy carpet with cutouts for the choke and idle adjust

the back is a light gauge aluminum with powder coat

opposite side is aluminum again with part of the pipe for help heat the carb.... so with the card being shielded with the head and heat from the pipe theory is the there should be enough heat to stop freezing.

So far so good.

Also tried putting crazy carpet between the track and frame to minimize the snow thrown forward to the snorkel but snow builds up on top of it so the jury is still out on this mod.
