My home built mesh hoods

O.K. Guys,
I just finished up my 3rd mesh hood and I can now say that these are looking professional.

I'm building these out of crashed hoods, hoods that 99% would throw away. I'm stiching them back together, paint and cover. You wouldn't know these were ever crashed as they take the form of a stock hood and in my opinion look TRICK!

First one is a proto that I put together in 2 hrs. I just wanted to see how it would work, and much to my surprise I ended up using it the entire last season without 1 problem.

Heres a pic of it with the light that I use.

This hood is kind of shifty as I didn't really get the mesh tight, but it worked extremely well.

Hood #2, I spent more time on this, really figuring out how to lay the mesh so that there were no joints, and it is nice and tight. This one was busted up pretty good, so I had to spend some time stiching it back together. I use this on my personal sled, and many of you have already seen this pic.

The one I just finished, and is ready for windshield, and install. I have 6 hrs into this one.

So, don't throw those hoods away, in fact I got all 3 of these for free from people that were going to trash them. You can drill as many holes, even make big cutouts, as the hood part is just used as a skeleton. I find that I have more than enough holes as they sit now, the motor stays nice and cool. The hoods weigh all of 4#, and I've had them upside down with no ill effect. I have them hinged in the front so it functions like your stocker. Best part is, I'm now storing several brand new hoods for when I sell the sleds.

Heres hood #3 drilled, and partially repaired, this would be the 1 hr mark. I could drill several more holes if I wanted to.
