So I got a Go Pro camera with the 32G memory card. Well the 32G card is going to outlast the battery if im shooting continuous video. So im looking at options to plug in my GoPro to my sleds power. I read the thread

Adding A Battery To The Rmk's For Gps Etc http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73256

Im going to try this option but im just wondering if anyone has been there and done that and how it worked out.

I would be interested to find out also. Buddy has a helmet cam up here in the arctic but battery froze and only got under 10 minutes of use. I've been wanting to get a helmet cam but wouldn't be worth the price for under 10 minutes of footage each time. If I can power it off my sled then it would definitely be worth it.

hey danbot thanks for that info. I may just get an extra battery and try that first. I know in the cold wheather the batteries don't last long.

If you have a wiring diagram of the sled, add a bridged rectifier to it and you will have 12 volt dc current for whatever you need. Walh Brothers racing has then for like 8 bucks. Simply hot and ground in and hot and ground out. I'm using one to run fuel and oil pumps and egt. Works great.

I have had mine on the side of my helmet, and more recently, bolted to the visor.
The GoPro HD batteries last surprisingly long in the cold

what do you mean Zman? I just use the sticky mounts and they are solid. I've found the higher I mount the camera the better shot I get. I do have the suction cup mount as well but it's not as fool proof as I thought. It needs a pretty flat & smooth surface and if the suction cup is wet it doesn't hold well at all

side of the helmet or top of the helmet? Just wondering if it caught wind and where it worked best.

ok I just mounted mine to the top. I really want the chst harness, it seems the most simple and gives you a really good angle.

The only problem I see is now it's too wide and you cant use your waterproof case. Which is a must

I know this has nothing to do with batteries but I know over the winter I was super paranoid that my go pro would fall off or get ripped off by a branch or something. Anyway some jet ski guys made a Billet GoPro mount. It's 100% stronger than the wimpy plastic mounts. I'll post up some feedback when I get mine and run it on my jet skis this summer. Here's the link http://www.wix.com/billetmaster/cold-fusion#!go-pro-mounts

It comes with a waterproof back.

What’s Included:
1 Battery BacPac
1 Li-Ion Battery
1 Waterproof Door for HD HERO Housing
1 Skeleton Door for HD HERO Housing
1 USB Cable
Warranty: One Year

Ok looked again...sorry I just watched the video only and they didn't mention the waterproof covers. Well for $50 it's a pretty good deal I'd say. I know I ran out of battery a couple times durring a day's worth of riding, and I swear all the cool stuff would happen when when the batterys dead!
