got out for the first time,on sun. i cant find anything i dont like about the pro. some tweeking is needed, just like anyone would do to fit it to themselfs, the thing's i think it needs for me is change the handle bar position, add pilot skis, a little work on the suspension set up. i got the 155 800. i also took my 2009 146 summit for head to head with a freind riding it. on a pretty choped up hill it was to close to call or who ever got off the line first, it didnt matter who was riding what. on a straight up untraked climb, the 146 came through every time by at least one lenght. i couldnt get the pro to turn as tight or as fast as the doo but i think that will come with time. at the end of the day the pro did what i bought it for it handles a little easier then the xp and i was less worn out.

I have a HUGE problem with your post!!!

Why the hell have you only been out once this year!!? :face-icon-small-hap

Enjoy your new ride. The more you ride the more you'll like it.... and the easier it'll be to spank the XP.

Nice for a first ride, that is one good running 146 xp .
Our 700 155's go way better than any 800 xp 146.

lucky13, I am not sure what you have done to your xp146??

I ride with several 146"xps and they are not even in the same game.... in deep snow.
Also ride with d7s 155" tracks that make the 146" xps look like 440 cc sleds.

a d7 smokes a xp huh. Wow... who writes your jokes there klem? Why do dolts like you even bother to type these babblefests. Lemme guess , your buddies pro hangs right with a turbo apex all the way to the top of fairy tale mountain??

Get it broke in and try again. Takes about 2.5 hours on the motor and also a clean tank of fuel before you can compare apples to apples. I guess it really boils down to riding hard all day and being able to ride again the next day. We had a couple people ride with us last Friday. They had Scuds. An 07 Summit 800 and an 09 Summit 800. I let the young lady on the 07 take my sled (Pro)....she made it 20 feet and was on her side. Laughed my but off!!!!! I took her sled to go help her get the sled upright and it was a pain in the butt to get it to do a donut!!!! I would be so worn out by the end of the day that I probably wouldn't want to ride again the next day. If nothing else, the Pro makes it fun to ride and doesn't beat the pi$$ out of you. Just my opinion.

I am looking into selling my 06 summitx 800 for a newer sled. I am looking into the Pro or a newer 800xp... From what I have been reading, I like that the Pro is easy to manuever, but I also read that it is 20hp less than the skidoos. For a girl rider, what would you suggest is the best sled??

Manufactures should remove HP numbers, and instead, sleds should be compared on the hill, in the trees, where you do your riding...etc

So far, the Pro sounds similar to what the Rev did back in its time..."rev"olutionized snowmobiles.

Most people I talk to who have ridden one say they'd take one.
The few I've seen on the mtn or in the trees...makes me want one.

Hmmm...wonder what the used market will look like end of season...

There are numerous posts on this subject and if I had to give a standard snowest answer I would say "Ride them both and decide...and make sure you have a good dealer." But, I will make the decision for you. Buy the Pro. I have ridden both sleds and the Pro is way easier to handle, period. As far as HP goes DO NOT get hung up on numbers. I have ridden sleds that supposedly have 25 more hp than the pro and did not notice one bit of difference. And yes, I do have a Pro. I can refer you to numerous people, including women who have ridden my sled as well as cats and doos and the decision has been unanimous. You will not be disappointed.

for a girl or or not the PRO will be the best of the two cause your smile will not go away after you ride one

For the last 2 years I rode a 163 xp and just got a 2010 600 etec summit 146 for the little lady. I also picked up a pro 155 for myself. I have 750 mountain miles on the pro, 2 trips to revy and 1 last week to yellowstone. The 2 revy trips were with the guys and I have to say the pro suprised me with its climbing ability. It flat out ripped. One of our diehard doo guy's ended up renting one for 2 days and came home looking for one to buy. The doo boys could not believe how bad the pro was beating up on a 800 etec 154. The pro's could go over the top of some long climbs with some speed in fresh tracks and the doo had to turn out or get stuck 50-100 feet from the top. My 800 163 xp was a very good running sled but there is no way I would ever take it back over the pro. The trip to yellowstone was just as impressive. I swapped sleds with Shellys 600 etec summit a few times. She was stuck on it's side in less than 100 feet while turning in deep powder. She thought it was too tippy. I know if she was to ride it for a couple hours and found the balance point when turning I wouldn't get it back. When I rode her's it flat out sucked when turning and going through the trees. The amount of effort required to do the things that just happen on the pro is rediculious.

Thought I was doing the wife a favor by giving her the 10 D8 and selling her 08 D7. 5 miles in she was almost in tears saying how bad she hated the 10, throttle wasn't as smooth and just felt less in control. Put her on the new PRO and the smile was back within 5 miles, so needless to say I now have two PRO's and a happy wife. Go with the PRO better ride for the women also.

I think i have a problm with mine.
Its an assault rmk, and i find its not very easy to do some donut,
side hill, etc. I tried a rev 2007 last year, and a kingcat 900 and it was easier.

Maybe there is not enough snow where I live?
Anything in the suspension who could help?

I thought I would reply to this thread as I rode my PRO for the first time this weekend and my wife rode her 09 summit 800R 146. This is the most fun sled I have owned yet. I really loved my 2010 summit ,but this is just comical to side hill and carve with...almost to easy!

HP numbers aside as the Pro is supposed to have less than a D-8, On a short climb in fair powder that ended on a flat top, the all stock Pro launches off the top while well set up and piped D-8's seem to be starting to slow down and can't launch at the top so just how important is a dyno report then? It's not whats on paper it's what happens on the hill that counts.
