My first Polaris

Hey guys. I just recently purchased a 2008 Dragon RMK 700 with 1800 miles for $4,000.00

First off I hope I didn't pay too much. And second off tell me what I need to know or expect from this sled.

I came from a Crossfire to this (155") RMK. It is super clean and I can't wait to get out and figure this thing out. Any help would be great. And if possible what are some good clutching options for this. I live in Wisconsin and will be riding mostly in Cooke City

You didn't overpay at all! That's actually a pretty good deal on a sled with that low of miles.

As far as what to expect.. These are AWESOME sleds! Very reliable engines that run well for many years. The walker shocks are OK if you keep them charged up, I prefer coil-overs put the new Pro RMK shocks on instead. Cheap upgrade, take offs can be found for 300ish on the swap meet. I would add venting to help keep the heat out, these sleds tend to get hot under the hood if left stock. Haven't played with my clutching yet, but lowering the chain-case gears to 19/42 makes a HUGE difference in throttle response and track speed.

One thing you may want to check/watch out for is the voltage regulator, these can fail and fry the ECU. See if it has the updated part #'s. If it doesn't then I'd change it out, or keep a close eye on it so you don't burn up the ECU like I did.

Other than that, These are really fun sleds that will get you pretty much anywhere on the mtn and have fun while doing it! Good luck! :face-icon-small-hap

saw a 2009 dragon with engine rebuild (new two rings piston and shorter rods) little over 1900 miles for $3,600.

Got it home last night and everything looks to be great. One thing it does is when I switch the info on the gauge from rpm to heat and then to miles per hour it says service. Seems like there is a problem with the speedo side of it. Don't really care how fast I am going, but is this going to be problems down the road

Make as many vents as you can in the electronic cover especially around the vr.its expensive put very wise to carrying a spare updated vr in your pack. I carry a spare vr and Ecu. Actually I need to pick up a new vr because I needed my spare one last yr.

That may just be the scheduled service reminder. You can change the interval (I think it is 20hr increments) or turn the reminder off by toggling all the way past the last increment. The procedure is explained better in the owners manual. I turned mine off after it came on during my first season.
