My first M.......

So, I'm new to this whole "out west" thing, and I'm hooked after one trip. Before we left, I had an xf1100t that I took to the dealer for service, he had a '12 m1100 turbo there, he made me a heck of a deal on trade, so I traded for the big boy. Now, I have a few questions for you guys with more experience.

My main one is the skis. Anybody finding a big difference by putting new skis on? I was riding with two Yami's and a Dragon, both with much wider (stock) skis, and the one guy said it felt like everytime he tried to lay mine over the skis would fight him and wouldn't want to cooperate. The suspension wasn't set quite right, but I would like a little more floatation. I couldn't get the damn thing to carve hardly, but I'm sure 80% was rider error. Although I've been riding snowmobiles for 20 years, that was a whole new experience, so I'm learning. Just seeing what the "pros" think.

Also, is upgrading to the 2013 steering design worth it? For a couple hundred bucks and a days work, just wondering if its worth it?

To be sure, the sled out there was awesome. I never felt like I couldn't go where everyone else was going, whether it was up hill or boondocking, and I'm a big enough guy that I can toss it around with no problem. In short, I love this machine.

I apologize if all these questions have been answered, just can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks for the help!

For me the vertical steering was a must the sled is much better with it. The narrow a arms are worth it and SLP or some after market skis are worth it. Also talk to Evo Powersports if you want a little more power. I went with the 215 flash and everything else they sell and it was well worth the money. Clutching is a good idea also. I really like my 12 I know others say they are trouble but dont be scared of it they are a good sled. Also put a tether on it mine tipped over a lot till I got used to it. I'm sure that was the sleds fault not mine.

getting rid off the pos stock skis and installing the vert steering will make it a entire different sled. Also drop the skid down to the 2013 positions is a huge improvement. I love my 2012.

buy some Simons Gen 1's and do't look back

they rock, then ride that bietch like u stole it!

Awesome. Thanks, guys. I've read so much negative about the 12's, but I have been happy with both sleds I've rode, and I'm not scared in the least about it.

I have been looking into the Evo flash. My dealer told me about the Speedwerx flash, but I like the idea of the Evo. Simple, no switching back and forth, and it sounds like those guys really know there stuff.

I'll check out the Simmons skis. Are the slydogs any good?

Also, is dropping the skid to '13 location a big deal? I didn't know the skid was any different between the two. Sounds like I have some projects before we head back out!

I really appreciate the info! Thanks a lot!

Look up racinstation thread on clutching checks and I think he sells the evo stuff also

Gen 1 Flexi skis

So, my dealer has a used set of gen 1 flexi skis that he would sell me. They aren't any wider than stock, but he said that they are much better than the stock skis. Worth looking into? I was looking at slydogs, so I'm wondering what is better. I think right now I'm going to try the vert steering and the skis. Maybe I'll try the short a arms for next season. My dealer told me to not move the suspension, and that he sets his all up the way mine is set up. If I do move it, where can I find an anti-stab kit?

Any other things I should know?

Again, thank you all for the help! Its greatly appreciated!

I would go with wider skis than gen1s. Go with gen3s or powder pros. I would defiantly drop the skid to the 13 location. I would do that before skis it makes a huge difference. Like said above get a hold of Racinstation and he will fix you up with a anti stab kit.
