My brand new 08 XP in the shop already

Well, Im ***gin pist about this, took my brand new 08 Xp that I bought in Sept up to Togwotee this weekend and the engine light was on the whole time and it possibly has a carburator issue. Basically I was cruising around on Sunday and the engine light came on after a couple of minutes of warming up then at various times when I would get to around 7000+ rpm the sled would basically lose power until I let off the gas and when i would get back on it, it would come back but could never get to full power with full throttle. The sled seems pretty bad *** if it would run right, but its not now. I already brought it to the shop to hopefully get dialed in but it really pisses me off on the inside
Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated.

$hitty luck! Could happen to anyone or any brand.

That happend to me on my old kk900. Took a jug out early in the riding season. Sucked ballz but what do you do.

Once you get it dialed it'll be all smiles :D:D:D

Chaz

yep two years ago my friend got an m1000 first ride and sized the engine. the oil pump was pinched guess they did not mix enough oil in the first take had to replace the engine. hope its not another bad year for doo

Some of the 08's last year had carbs that had debris inside some of the internal passages or were just plugged. The fix was to replace the carbs. There weren't many of them but you may have one. Did you 08 get all the fixes done, especially the chaffing wire behind the can?

They will get it worked out and yeah the XP definately RIPS!

dpm

last year i was doing a climb and loss power the engine killed it took while to get started like it was flooded or not getting any gas
after that it ran like crap and the lower in altittude the worse it got when i got to the truck I could start it but as soon as i hit the thottle to go i would die.
if i ran it on full choke it ran fine
it ended up being the dmp took one off an xp at the dealer and problem solved
good luck

sounds like you got one of the debris in the carbs sleds. dealer should have cleaned the carbs before sending it out.
how much snow at tog?

I saw an 06 that had the same problem and it was just the sensor to the airbox unplugged. Who knows maybe it could be something this simple?

Does you sled have carberator heaters? They might be on and I think they should only be on it it's really cold.
