Started tearing down the Switchback so she would be ready to ride. Got the motor out and found a few spark plugs in the belly pan and a craftsman 10mm wrench so far LOL.

Here are a few problems that explain a lot LOL. First one was a dealer fix downstate for Cracked throttle body boots, very nice if you ask me. Looks as though a kindergardener was finger painting.... The second one I found a piece of what looked like a 20 oz. plastic pop bottle top that the cap screws on to stuck in my reeds, this explains my revving problem and finally I found out why my DET was going off, worn through wire but according to the dealer in downstate MI everything was A OK Number 1 super dude!!! I'm going to make that dealer eat every penny of what I'm replacing myself. Good thing I kept the invoice from them saying everything checked out OK no problems found yet they still charged me 600 bucks in labor.... Note to self, do things myself LOL!!!! Anyone know if I can by just the reed pedals themselves and where?

Also the intake boots is a common problem. Mine were siliconed too. Cheap bastards!! I got new ones from world of powersports as well. I've found they are a great source for oem and aftermarket parts. Not the only source. But a great one. Oh yeah. For oem parts just call them it's easier than their Fische!

LOL...DJ...you were had by the classic super dealer mechanic it sounds like.

--the reed silicone job is SUPER common and is usually done by us cheap A$$es when we need to squeeze till end of season, believe it or not this works very well and lasts a while...ask me how I know..haha. make sure you cover the throttle body boots will heat tape..they will NEVER crack again..trust me...I have 3 seasons on a set now and look new yet. ;)

also, I would replace the boots now since its out. get the boots from ebay...they are made by Kimpex and super cheap...ive installed a few sets on my sleds and customers sleds with heat tape and worked perfect ;)

as for the reeds, cant get OEM replacements..which is STUPID...I always use OEM but I usually find new take-offs or low mile replacement complete cages off newer sleds. these are easy to get

I always wire loom everything, heat tape stuff and zip tie everything...never let anyone work on your baby again, lol...

side note, I have used a lot of these too...very cheap and work great.

just gotta get that dealer that is there to back you and work hard, I had that at my last home...gonna miss them guys, hope the one in AK is just as good

Lol didn't I tell ya you would get a laugh? And as for my reeds they weren't cracked so I just flipped them over and they all relaxed right back in to place. I have to thank Slash for that idea

are you going to do the updated crank kit and the 06 pistons? also are you planning on doing your stocky head or going to the slp? im going to ride mine fairly stock this year except for slp pipe and can and fire'n'ice intake and venting but i wanna build my motor after this year so im curious to see what works best

Just running the 06 crank with 06 pistons but my cylinders have the slp port and polish job, stock heads were cut for slp's cheaters, I'll have the slp pipe and can on it along with my fire n ice air box.... My motion pro cable gets here wed so I can do a test fire on the girl :) As you can see in the one pic the stock oiler cables are crap

i know exactly what you mean. ive been pinching the pennies and if i continue to do so by june on my stocker 05 rmk i can throw in the updated crank, 06 pistons, get the heads port and polished, slp head, do an indy dan clutch, do all new mounts, all new cables, fox floats suspension, and a few other nic nacs. its all just time and money right?! your project is looking good though. will you have it on the snow next weekend?

As long as my motion pro cable gets here this week it will be ready to rock other than a tank of gas break in for the rings. Hell who knows I may still put the turbo kit on it..... we'll see LOL....

Vents came in today from mountain fit hoods. Very nice looking vents and at a very nice price... think it was 20 bucks a side.

New throttle/oiler cable from motion pro was here today.... All I have to say is very nice, even came with a bottle of LUBE!!!! Now if I wouldn't have dropped the retaining clip that holds the cable to the thumb block I would be almost done but that sucker found a great hiding place under the motor somewhere......

IMAG0305.jpg

Wow, last two I ordered didn't come with any lube but it has been a while. Maybe the next one I order will.

almost back together. Slp pipe in but before that I need to put my aluminum chain case cover on courtesy of Mountainhorse.... Thank you much :)
