My 800 Motor was OK

Well i bought a used 11 turbo pro. After Hearing all the Horror stories i was determined to send my motor off to Indydan for his long rod kit. Well i farted around to long and the snow started to come so i just ordered a set of RK Tek Pistons to get me by this winter and do the LR motor next summer. Started the tear down today and was excited yet scared to see what it all looked like. Well got the head and cylinders off and everything looks PERFECT. granted the pistons were a little sloppier then i like but everything looks good. no scuffs, good cross hatching and no cracks. This motor has a little over 1000miles on it all of which have been under boost. No oil was added to the tank and the oiler was not turned up. Previous owner ran Polaris Gold. I will be running legend ZX-2SR and will be turning up the oiler and may add a little to the tank. Id rather smoke trees out them my motor. Still planning on doing the LR this summer but i am glad i have a little piece of mind now for this season... Ill post some pics tomorrow after i take everything to work and get it all cleaned up. Plus i want to take some measurements of the cylinder.

Some do some don't. Some times the crack is hard to see . Glad every thing looks good . Can not wait to hear how the RKT stuff works out .

How did the upper and lower rings look, especially right at the intake port? Was the chrome flaking off? You can see on the piston where it is cleaned off more than the rest of the piston, right where the fuel is injected. That is where the flaking would be the worst.

If you turn up the oiler, doesnt it have a better chance of pre- detonation? I don't understand, if everything looks good, why you would change the fuel/oil mixture

As far as i know running more oil doesn't mess with pre det unless it turns into carbon deposits. Leaner air/fuel yes. Its known that these pros run lean stock, its not exactly an easy adjustment with the turbo so id rather turn it up while im there then have to turn it up later.

Did you measure the cylinder and pistons yet? Curious to what your clearances were, I have a guess.

I havent. I was planning on it today during work, but work got in the way of my personel life. Hopefully tomorrow.
