My 09 700 Build

I've had a few posts about my sled that I picked up this year and decided to put it in one post now that I finally got a chance to ride it.

First Pics are the before and here are the specs when I picked up the sled.

09 700, 700 miles, Twin SLPs, SLP Porting, SLP Machined Head, SLP Mapping, Exit Shocks up front / rear, F-Bomb track mod, 5" RSI + straight bar, 43" holz front end, Powder Pro Skis and about 5000 stickers!

Due to the fact I'm in MN and do run it in NW WI and the UP, I needed to do some engine work as working with SLP, the system was never designed to run less then 6000'.

So here is a run down of what I ended up doing to the sled;

SLP Single for Ported Engine
Stock Head swap for low elevation running
SLP Remapping to their 700 performance edition (CLAIMS of 153hp)
SLP Clutching
SLP High Flow Intake
Powder coated rear skid, bumpers by Half Baked Powder Coating
Swapped front arms for stock dragon Arms powder coated by guidoexpress
Removed Sway Bar
New Exit X1's with custom black bridges by XZbroz
Removed Sway Bar
Removed All stickers
WRP side vents
7" RSI Riser - tried to go to 9" but cables wouldn't accommodate
Better Boards
Blacked out tunnel / Front under carriage
Blacked out seat
Custom Rear Rack with SLP LED Light
Custom Flat finishing of Hood
Yamaha XTX hand guards with flat finish

Finally was able to get the sled out this weekend on the lake for some test runs before heading to the UP this weekend.

I know the IQ's are kind of yesterday's news and the blacked out look isn't new or unique, but wanted a project and didn't want to spend a ton on it. I got a killer deal on the sled this summer and just couldn't pass it up.

Initial impressions are this sled is going to be fun in some real snow. Ran for a bit on the local trails as well and the shocks are great without the sway bar. Rolled over easy in the drifts on the ice that I could find as well.

Kids seemed to think it was just fine for them too.

Very nice looking sled.

Didn't you get the stock head from me??? If you did, glad its working for you.

I did. Ended up getting two of them as one came via a trade.

Used the one I got from you and sold the other.

Nice job ! Your sled is very nice and something to Tt be proud of . I have 09 dragon that I wish had your 700 in it !

Thanks. When I was looking to replace my Nytro MTX, I wanted something lighter (not hard to find) and something that would have a solid motor. I decided to avoid the 800's for obvious reasons and searched for quite awhile for a 700. Found this one with less than 700 original miles on it and it had more $ in aftermarket parts than I paid for the sled.

SLP was great to work with to get me setup running for my elevation.

Heading out on a trip this weekend and then to WY in 3. Looking forward to seeing how well it performs in some real snow!

Guy who used to own it did hill climb racing with it, so he didn't really have a need for it.

I picked one up at Haydays to put on it, but I need to trim it down before i get it mounted up.

Quite honestly though, I didn't really notice it not on there testing it this past weekend. wasn't extremely cold, but plenty of wind and was fine.

Now debating on leaving it off and mounting the go pro there instead.

Intersting. I have the same sled with windshield half hanging off. I like the sleek look of the delete but don't want to put form above function. Maybe I'll pull her off for a ride or two... still waiting for snow though dammit

You'll love it. I have an '07 with SLP exhaust, some intake work, and EZ-Ryde. Effin shame I live in Wisconsin and only get to ride it a limited amount. Just love those 700s. Love that engine enough that I bought a 121 version too. I have both of the '07 limited builds, though I left the shorty stock.

You have any scratchers on there? If you do any riding locally, you'll want them. In hardpack, it can get a little warm without them down.

how did you remove the polaris off of the seat and what did you use to black out the tunnel and front end?

I have a set of slidekicks with carbide tips. Just didn't get them put on before testing. Was just out on the lake in fresh 3-12" depending on how the wind had pushed it.

was running about 120 the entire time. Figure I'll have to run them on the trail as I will run the sled in NW WI when I head that way as well.

Polaris removal from the seat is compliments of this;

I used the gloss version on my old nytro seat and it worked great after a buddy recommended it. After two seasons had to only a few small (less than 1/2") spots to touch up.

Tried that at first but the gloss was just way too shiny for the IQ seat. Found the flat version and it worked great. Key is many thin coats. When you are close, you can see the polaris name and looks like a ghosted decal.

Tunnel black out comes from many many hours of testing various sprays, paints, etc. I ended up doing a full sanding, cleaning and then priming with a self-etching primer. Then went with the Duplicolor bed liner spray on. Some guys say "but it'll weigh so much!!!" - took less than two cans total. I carry more than that in water in my pack. After the first ride, albeit just a short test run, looks just like it when I sprayed it on. Same material was used on my custom rack as well.

I wanted the blacked out look, but really didn't want to pull the entire tunnel to get it coated. when I had the entire front end tore apart, I used the same spray up there as well.

I have it, but it hasn't made it to the sled yet. Few vents are still on the bench waiting to be put in.

I'll post a pic as soon as i get it in!

Bad in all black... Could never understand riding without a windshield though, ride where I do and you'd understand why one is needed.

More than likely I'll still get it on the sled. Was some unpredicted snow so hurried up and got it ready enough to test as we're heading to the UP this weekend and I hadn't had a chance to run it.

Few more things yet to do on it before throwing it back in the trailer Saturday!

Finally got a chance to ride last week for a bit in the UP. First couple of days the snow sucked, then we received 24" of lake effect.

The sled handled great. Exit's took the really crappy trails in between forest service roads great and the SLP 700 was extremely responsive.

Heading to Tog on Tuesday for 5 days of riding.

Few pics from that ride.
