Honor killings have reached such a high in the middle east that some countries are trying to ban it.
THe problem is, it is accepted as OK.
Just look at the Gaza strip. More girls are killed as a direct result of honor killings each year than the number of people killed in the fighting.

It may not be part of the muslim religeon, but it is accepted.

That story is so sad. With Islam spreading ever deeper into western nations it looks like we're gonna have to get used to this kindof thing. In England, Parliment recently has allowed certain areas (Muslim) to govern themselves by Sharia law. Moronic liberal multi-culturist idiots have lost their freakin minds. I've read that over 60k female genital mutilations are performed anually to British-Muslims. The girls are shipped off to where-ever these subhuman practices are performed and then brought back all ready to be all they can be in Islam....which is? How tragic, how barbaric, how very Islam. The old geezers that dictate these kinds of tragic practices should have been marginalized a long time ago...I keep on waiting for the "vast majority" to wake up. C'mon Islam, you are in desparate need of a renaissance. For most faiths that happened centuries ago...

but the clerics are considered to have a direct line to god. By the koran you must listen to them.
Now, why would the clerics want to change anything?
They have held power for 3000 years based on this system. They arn't going to change it. The men are brought up believing that women are inferior and there for no other reason than to serve their husband and bare childeren (a women who can't have childeren can be stoned to death in Iran).

That religion is still rooted 3000 years ago. Shoot, there are still clerics that preach the CRUSAIDES for crimonys sake. Grow up.
The fact Europe is allowing these extremist to take hold and govern themselves in an attempt to get along, will lead to major terrorist acts all over Europe as the extremist work to take over by using fear and intemidation.
