Mtn Tamer Flex Front Arm

Hey guys. I'll be buying a used LT kit here hopefully in the coming future, and I am wondering what's everybody's experience with the new flex front arm? Is it worth the $300.00 to upgrade an older kit to this? I've seen a short video of it articulating on a stationary bike and it looks like it will make a significant difference on hard pack snow.

trail/powder

the flex helps you on the hardpack for sure. the lockout can be beneficial in some deep or high angle situations. It is def a personal preference.

The lockout feature is probably most important in spring conditions where you want the edge of that track to really bite into the sidehill for traction. I liked the flex setting at max in the powder and definitely on the trail. I only locked mine out on maybe 4-5 rides this year.

You can because the track stays planted for more traction but you get that extra side to side flex motion and weight transfer when you lean which equals faster corners. Before the flex arm things felt more edge to edge. It makes the track feel more like a tire on the road.

IT is very nice on the trail, helps it roll into corners more and you never feel like you get trapped upright on the track. with the old fixed kits, if you were going in a straight line, it kind of tetered over then you could turn where as the new one more rolls side to side. makes it feel a lot more wheel like when entering corners. Not a huge deal in slushy or powdery trails, but when it gets hard packed, its a lot more fun on the trail.

Not locking it out in the spring is not the end of the world. but it definately makes that planted feel a lot nicer and more secure on those nasty sidehills you find yourself in!

We rode ours in all conditions and tested it in each one. My personal preference is fully open year round. Reagan had the same opinion. Never had a spring side hill it wouldn't hold.
We suggest trying it in the open, semi-open, and locked position and finding what works best for you.
There is no question it makes the hard packed trail a better experience!

I agree with Brett here. The difference in pow is hardly noticeble with my setup, but on hard pack it helps a bit and gives a smoother feeling. Though I see no need to lock it up in any situation at all over here. But here in Sweden our snow is more setup than in the Rockies so...

Unless you are gonna be riding a lot on hardpack I would not even consider buying it.
