tryin to help a friend he has a 03 rx1 with a mpi super charger stage 1 rides it for a mile and it blows off the intercooler can't find the problem if anyone help that would be much appreciated thanx.

The biggest "trick" we have found is to be sure the hoses are clean, and then install them on the carbs first to be sure they are seated properly and clamped well. After that install the intercooler.
It seems you can rarely get the hoses on the carbs correctly so that they will stay if they are in the intercooler.

There are a few things you can do. First, get some 1" wide nylon strap with a buckle ( like the stuff on a backpack belt) from the hardware store and put little bracket on each side of your delta box and run it across the intercoller. this seemed to solve my problem. The other thing I would do is get a blow off valve installed. this make the sled a lot easyer to ride and also help with the psi spikes.

Make sure when installing intercooler the silcone sits on the carbs square and is very clean use brake clean to clean this. then make sure the cac tube fits on the intercooler with out having to force it or pull it over. If you have to force it readjust it it will pull on the intercooler. A bypass valve will also help.

If you need help with it and its still doing it you can send us your intercooler and we will weld tabs on the sid so u can spring the intercooler down to the deltabox. No charge.

Hope this helps.

Send your Cooler to Heath. Their fix is way better than having down time once the snow gets great, or worse having it pop off in deep snow.

Strap

Ratchet strap it down to the delta box. Works everytime. Clean the boots with brake clean and then lube them WD-40. The WD-40 evaporates and becomes sticky....It works I do it on mine everytime I have the intercooler off. It has never blown off.

I have the same set-up going on 5 years now; contact Ted at Janetty Racing and order new carb boots - have him cut them for you; they stick like crazy and you would not even really need the clamps (they are so much better than the older style boots the kit came with) I have the clamps on still but just "firm" versus "cranked to hell". He has carb extensions also that give you about 1/8" more length, they epoxy to the carb faces and have a nice machined edge for bigger Boost. In general, clean the boots and mating surfaces and they will stick great.

Another trick is to clean the $hit out of the boots and intakes with brake or carb cleaner. Let both dry and then spray the inside of the boots with Aussie Mega Hold hair spray. I did this after having my SC blow the intercooler off 3 times in one trip. Haven't had a problem since. I also make it a point not to chop the throttle on and off hard while on the trail.

Now I just need to fix the issue of my CAC filling with raw fuel every time the front lands hard enough to chop the CV slides closed. I can tell the CAC fills up with fuel because; I have transparent Yellow Tygon tubing instead of the gray one going from the CAC to the carbs (visible at corner of Intercooler in pic). With this tubing I can see fuel bubbling through it when the CAC has flodded with fuel. Leaning the sled to the right side until it clears out every time is a PITA.

Clean boots, use a strap, get a blow off valve. I would send it in to MPI for the updated for sure and then strap her down and ride!
