ive been looking at moving to idaho falls area, how far and what kind of riding is around there? do they get alot of snow in that area?

RIght in Idaho Falls does not get alot of snow but around it does.
Bone is about 25 miles to the parking lot. Then head over to Wolverine Canyon or down toward Caribou mountain. Unfortunately there is quite a bit of trail riding this way. (Just my opinion tho as I haven't ridden there alot)
IF you head out to Swan Valley its closer to 40 or 50 with lots of good riding up by Poker Peak
30 miles up to Rexburg and the Big Hole range. 2.5 mile from the parking lot to the tree line.
80 miles up to Island Park and all you the riding you can think about.

90 minutes and your in Island Park and Mt. Jefferson.
If you LOVE the outdoors, you will enjoy living in South East Idaho
Hunting
Fishing
Hiking
Sand Dunes
ATVing
Boating

Its all about being OUTSIDE.

where would a guy park to go ride targahee in wyoming. Im also new to this area, canyon names or any kind of derections would help.

When you get here give me a shout. 30 minutes to the Bone parking lot and from there I will take you where you will not see a trail or another rider all day long.

Everyone that posted above was correct. Also, 25 minutes from Idaho Falls in the bone/wolverine area 1x sometimes 2x a week after work me and the guys from work go night riding and anyone is welcome. Its alot of fun especially if you go Wenesday night after they groom trails and there is a fresh dump. I live East of town 10 minutes and sometimes I ride from my house and over to the Ririe reservoir not too much steep terrian that way but alot of fun boondocking cross country.

Also 3o minutes from Idaho falls heading east you get to Palasades reservoir and we unload at the damn ride in those mountains behind there or go up a few more miles unload on the other side ride Indian Creek or go another 10 minutes up the road to Alpine, Wy and ride gods country were rides like Dan Adams, Rob Hoff and Jason Mentaberry ride and live. Idaho Falls area is world class ok size town of around 50,000 people a airport, mall, sporting goods stores, rivers and Reservoirs, sand dunes and awesome area for dirtbiking and sledding.

When you get here hit me up and I will show you around

If and I say IF you are going to ride around the Targhee area you better have a good GPS and a current status map. Most of that area is in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness area or closed to snowmobiles.
It is some awesome riding but most of it got closed down quite a few years ago.

They have been know to patrol with helicopters and then the rangers just wait for you at the trailhead to hand you your $500 ticket as most places have just one way in and out.
