Moving to Canada from Iceland

Hello all.
I'm 22 year old Icelandic boy, looking for new place to live in, after the economy collapsed it is hard to be a snowmobiler in Iceland(specialy if i want to do some mods :) just want to try new things and since i'm a snowmobiler USA or Canada is my only intrests. Allso i thing the culture is wery similar specialy in the northen areas.
I'v got education in Marine Enginering and Mecanical Enginering, And have experience in fishing jobs (started 13years old) and also workshoop jobs.

I have few question for you locals aboat job finding and migrating

1. How hard is it to get job in Canada/British Columbia, if i'm hard working culd i get fishing job there?

2. Can I go there, get a job, or do i need licens to stay in the contry?

3. If i get a decent job how is it to make ends meet in there, after rent, insurance, car, Snowmobile and ect. (no kids or wife ;D )

Thanx for any help

If I were you I would find some of your expatriate countrymen, those are the people who can relate between here and there the best. As for work fishing that would be a hard line of work to enter here nowadays. If I were you I'd find the town that best suits your lifestyle and has an upward economy, parts of north eastern BC have busy oil/gas patch economies which are not the most stable but an ambitious hardworking person who wants to work will not have much to worry about.

what kind of place are you coming from
what kind of engineering background do you have
and how much experience
what kind of town are you looking to move to (big city, medium)??
place loacated around good sleddin

theres engineering/design work around, just gotta look in the right places

as far as moving and working i would look into immigration, and see what needs to be done

well i'm from town of 1000 people surrounded with steep mountains. Great place acutaly but its time to move on.
my experience is mostly fixing fishing vessels and hevy equipment i have been 5 years in this. Im open for any town size.
oil/ gas industry sounds good

just to be shure I think my education it is called Marine Engineer but it is no bacelor or master degree involved. i also have the mechanic licence for welding, metal work, fixing hevy equipment and e.c.t.

sounds like you have a great attitude towards new adventures and a hard work ethic. Heck almost any employer would love to have you. If you head to the West coast of B.C. you could find marine tech opportunity i'm sure. If you want to stay inland a tad, I would think anything with Heavy Duty repair would work for you. You can sled from either area. We usually sled from Nov to end of May or early June.
You will have to check with Immigration Canada to find the requirements though.
Good luck.

sounds to me like you would sort of be equivalant to a mill wright. If you are able to get to canada i might be able to hook you up working on large engines and compressors for gas compression.
