So here is what we have .
two single seat adult mountain sleds
one children sled.

Moving 3 adults, 4 children ages 10-8-5-2 .

What is an easy way to transport the group 5 miles up the mountain on a groomed trail to a large area with bowls and open space?
Once there we'll snowmobile and have a couple plastic discs for the kids to ride.

Gonna spend a day trying to make this work.

So how would you get them there?

I have an idea but want to see how others would do it.

well you could buy a auter sled which we use to get calfs out of fields and tow that behind the sled which would hold 2 kids and the rest on the sleds only problems is your toying the sled with a rope so you hit brakes hard sled keeps going

put 1 kid with an adult on each sled, both remiaining oldest kids on the kids sled?

Or

Make 10 mile round trips until all parties are at playground

Or

get a plastic sled you can tow with snowmobile

Or
tow kids on skii's/snowboard? (8-10 year olds ski?)

Lets see here................ hmmmmm

Put the three adults on the mountain sleds (2 on one, 1 on the other)

On the sled that has only one adult, put the two youngest kids on that sled with you, there is plenty of room for two little kids in front of the adult, not the most comfortable for the adult, but then again you are going only five miles.

So that leaves the oldest two kids and a kids sled.........

A few ways to handle this:

1. Put the oldest two on the kids sled and go real slow and let them follow
2. Put one of the oldest kids on the kids sled and pull the other one behind one of the adults sleds on a tobaggon real slow with about 30' of rope
3. Ground a few of the kids, and leave them home with grandma and grandpa
4. Ground all of the kids and leave them home with grandma and grandpa

:D:D

seems like a perfect time to teach the little ones a lesson. you tell them to wash the ride while you go riding. offer them 20bux to do it. explain to them that after just 400 washings they could have one of their own sleds to ride. add in 3 more washings for fuel and oil, 10 more washings for tabs, and 15 more washings for some gear.

when they look at you like a dictator just tell them to get in the sled you are towing and hold on.

Well here is how I'm thinking about moving them. Multiple trips.

Put the plastic discs under the Kid sled's track and tie it to the 900 with 15 feet of rope.

9 year old on towed sled, adult and 5 year old on the 900 seat.
On the 600 one adult and the 8 year old.

Leave one adult and 2 year old behind.

Haul sleds with all up around half way. Unhook kitty and disc. Let 9 year old start riding kitty up trail. Let 8 and 5 year old play disc with one adult / sled supervision.

Then take the 900 down to pick up adult and 2 year old go back to where 8,5 and adult are located.

Repeat this process until accomplished ... figure two or three times.

The children can take turns riding the kitty up or I can keep it in tow and let a child sit on it in tow.

Sound about right? Figure to take half an hour. Plus a couple miles on the sled pulling and overloaded shouldn't hurt it too much. ;)

Temperature should be in the 40's.

This reminds me of those story problems where you have to get the family and the goat across the river on the boat, but you can't leave the goat alone with anyone or the grandma...I always made that harder than it had to be too. :)

Adult takes 2 year old on one sled - followed by
10 (or 9?) year old takes the 5 year old on the kids sled - followed by
Adult with 8 year old on one sled
One adult left behind at lot.

One adult returns for the other, leaving an adult to supervise while you're gone.

edit: tie the discs on behind one of you.

This is a great idea but the kid sled goes 8 MPH tops and the mountain sleds will overheat going so slow on a trail.

Leave the kids sled behind -you will just be getting it unstuck every 2 minutes.

Well it might get stuck but it makes the kids happy and the two oldest will be occupied by the kiddie sled. One adult can take care of the 5 year old and 2 year old while 2 adults use the big sleds and then take turns with all the children.

Well I appreciate the helo ride ... cost is at least $800

Also, one of those towed enclosed sleds at $1600

Like the idea of paying the groomer to tow a large sled up the trail . Won't do it cause owned and operated by National Forest Service.

go visit the dealers..one will sell the otter tow sleds..with real hitches...buy 2..put the kids sled in one and the 3 kids in the other...plus a small cooler with lunch/drinks and snacks...is way safer/ easier and you will have them for future trips...(both the kids and the sleds)

This makes since when transporting several times a year.
At the end of the season with this transfer happening once seems to be a little expensive to get a group up the trail.
