mounting location for scratchers on 08 rails

Don't know if there's any significant difference between the 08 rails and my 07s, but when I first installed them I drilled out a spot near the little tab that sticks up above the rest of the rail (sorry, no pics).

Later learned that it's a heck of a lot easier, and they works more better if you just pull the middle bogie wheel and bolt the scratchers in their place.

Pull the front bogies and put them there.
No drilling... Plus if you forget to put them up and hit reverse, they will simply roll back. "Hook locates on top of rail instead of in a hole."
Avoid placing the hook in a hole... If you do, and hit reverse with them down, you will bend the crap out of them.

On my '08, I didn't drill any holes and or remove the wheels. The secret is using two 3/8" flat washers on either side of the rail for the scratcher bolt to simply clamp the scratcher in place in the rear triangle shaped cut-out.

With this setup, the "loose" end of the scratcher can pivot in the triangle cut-out for those back-up oops.

Holz scratchers shown here and I've also got the same setup on the other M8 with some off-brand (crappy) scratchers. Two years, 1000+ miles on both sleds/scratchers setup this way.

P.S. The white crap is lithium grease that oozed off over the summer and got flung around during recent braap sessions. The red sandy stuff is from buring it in a creek on the first trip out last year. :D
