mountain riding?

Looking for some awesome places to go do some boondocking in CO!! Some place comparible to Cooke City MT. If anyone could help me out i'm looking to plan a trip in early Jan.

My suggestion and favorite is thunder mountain lodge on the Grand Mesa. Ride from your cabin and pick your territory - boondocking, trails, open meadows, etc. HUGE area to ride. Mark is a great guy and more than accommodating. Billy cooks up some of the best meals you will eat. Mark (CANNONMAN) would be able to provide much more info. He's on snowest and will hopefully chime in here. Take a look at the Colorado area topic, I just saw a few posts regarding the same question you have. Check em out at
Thundermountainlodge.net

And welcome to Snowest!

Thunder Mountain Lodge is pretty freakin awesome! The mesa has all types of terrain and riding from your sweet private cabin at TML makes it a pretty easy choice! Great food, fun bar and awesome out door Jacuzzi's just out from your cabin! Good times!!! :face-icon-small-hap

I'll be making a trip to TML this year again! Maybe two trips!!!

Usually always go to cooke but last year went to the Mesa and stayed at TML around christmas time, the snow was not the greatest but the area and the lodge were great. Like previously mentioned the riding area is huge and there are tons of area's to explore.

You can't see it but I'm blushing with all the positive comments. I am from the midwest (Go Pack) and bought this lodge 3 years ago as I thought this area was one of the most under promoted, and marketed areas with some of the best riding you will find anywhere. Usually have 4- 500 Inches of snow a year. Only had 269" last year. It truly is huge with terrain for all abilities. If you like Cooke, think of it as being the size of a nickel, the Grand Mesa is the size of a dollar bill! It truly is huge with terrain for all abilities. The only thing lacking is the really long steep pulls like Cooke. I have pulls just as steep just don't have the distance. More than enough to challenge most riders. The boondocking is where we really shine. Some of the best you will ever find.
I have a ton of midwest guys coming out here and all are amazed they never heard of the place before. It really is a hidden gem of riding.
Oh, and I see by your name you must ride a Pro, that's perfect and don't worry, we will wait up for you! Just kidding, that Covelli kid (more midwest guys) above and all his buddies have them to!
Give us a call we have exactly what you are looking for and get this, if you are truly disappointed (you won't be) in our place I will give you your money back. Makes it pretty easy to try a new place. Thanks, Mark

I get this question a lot. We are 4-5 hours directly west of Denver. Interstate 70 all the way save for the last hour up to the mountain. I have quite a few guys come out from that area. Are you familiar with Vanderhaags Truck Sales?

Yup, got one down the street from us in Sioux Falls here.:face-icon-small-hap

Talked to you at haydays for a bit saturday morning. I WILL be making my way out there sometime this year, hopefully more than once.

I make that offer in all sincerity. Makes it easy to try a new place. I have complete confidence you will be happy. We all know I can't gaurantee the snow, but historically this place gets hammered. I will give you honest and accurate snow reports.

If your responding to my post ... I understood the sincerity :face-icon-small-hap

My statement was more of a " I've heard great things about this lodge and riding area....so I need to make the trip already"

Hope to see you in a couple months.

Geez Mark....you are letting the secret out...WTH...lol I hope you have a great season and we hope to get up there more than a time or two this year and I live close compared to your midwest friends!
