Mountain Max Jetting/Clutching

I have a '00 Mountain Max 700 and would like to take it to the mountains this year for my girlfriend to ride a little. It currently only has an aftermarket silencer. We are planning on riding in the Bighorns which I believe is around 7000 - 8000 feet. What will I need to do in order to ride it in that elevation? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have used the same sled at the same elevations. I am from northern MN. What I had to change was the main jet, pilot jet, adjust the air mixture screw and change out the inserts on the clutch weights. I had two sets of weights so I could set one up for high elevations and low elevations, this way I didn't have to grind out the rivets in the weights every time I adjusted. I don't think your silencer will change the jetting you will need.

Talk with a dealership they will be able to tell you what jets and rivets for weights you will need.

Hope this helps

The bighorns are above 8000 ft. I still have mt max put lots of miles on in the horns don't be afraid of jetting on the lean side according to the charts they were realy on the rich side. I will find my chart and post specs up.

I ran 132.5 mains but I believe that was with pipes

You should be able to look in the manual, it does have a chart if I remember correctly

Otherwise, it will be around a 130 main for mag and center and a 131.3 for PTO

55 or 60 pilots
fuel screw 1.5 turns

Clutching you will need to knock out the rivets and put in new ones

Go to any local delaership, they will help you out

If you are in MN, call Jerrys yamaha in Lakeville, mn
