Mountain Max 700 Heat exchanger removal ?

Ok for all you experienced mod guys, have any of you taken the stock heat exchangers off the foot-rests and installed them directly under the tunnel like all the newer sleds?

I have a 141 Camoplast track on mine with 8 tooth drivers. (It was done by Hartman Inc.) I was looking under it last night and noticed that I have at lease 2 inches of space between the track and the tunnel.

Is it possible to take the exchangers off and install them under the tunnel?

The reason is I do alot of mountain riding and the footrests fill with snow. So I want to install a custom footrest if at all possible?

So any information will be greatly appreciated.

I've never seen anyone relocate the stock exchangers under the tunnel. Most use a rev tunnel cooler with other mods or go to edge style aftermarket or oem coolers like on the 02-05 Polaris edge RMK and a u cooler in the back of the tunnel.
Castelsledder also makes the sno-free boards for use with with your stock coolers.

If you do move the exchangers keep in mind Yamaha engineered them to support the running boards. You mentioned going to a "Better Board" set up which would help with supporting your boards.
Moving the exchangers to the top of the tunnel does pose some challenges with pumbing. Currently all of it is set up to feed coolant along the boards. To change this out to do what you're thinking will require some serious rerouting of cooling lines and a good deal of down time. Personally I'd do one of two things, go for the same set up as a RMK board and run another exchanger at the rear of the tunnel. This is the way my MPI tunnels are set up and you can puchased just the extrusion for the boards and pick up a rear exchanger. You can probably get this stuff from VanAmberg or Fabcraft. Or retunnel.
