Mountain IQR vs PRO?

Saw this on the IQR page and it didn't get much response, simply because I think not to many IQR guy's have pro's. Just wondering if any of the people who ride pro's have came off of IQR's and what they thought about the pros and cons of each sled

Yeah I saw that. I thought it would get more response than it did, so I figured I would put it on the pro section as well.

good call, i hope it does.

i spoke on the phone with rmkrider and he owned both at the same time. he said pro hands down, moves through the snow that much better.

Well, I'll tell you my iqr feels like riding a big turd compared to my 11 pro. I haven't used the iqr since I got the pro, and my iqr used to be a blast to ride. It's fairly well setup, with a 156, non ves 800, niel's pipe, narrowed front end, shortened spindles, tapered tunnel, etc just doesn't feel as nice to ride as the pro. it's quite a bit heavier for one, and the bodywork is way wider so you can feel it hang up in the snow when you're on your side big time in comparison.
In fact I just sold the iqr (still sitting in my shop though)

Yep I agree with poorider, I had a decently setup IQR,
2008 800 Mono block conversion DMAX port/polish with twins set up to run Avgas (~180hp) atacc, etc
144" Ez ryde/VE Tunnel ext.
lowered front end
feethookers
etc

Granted it wasn't a 155"(it needed it badly), but yes, you would have to change everything that makes the IQR a great racing sled into a mountain sled and it still wouldn't handle as good as a pro in the deep. Its too wide and stubby. Save yourself the heartache and buy a pro and just ride it. Such a better designed mountain/boondocking sled.
It's much lighter
narrower in body panels, ski width, running boards
much better stock suspension for mountain riding, doesn't trench and doesn't weigh 76lbs(yes that is what a stock IQR skid with Ice age rails weigh!)
Better balanced and more predictable

I had issues tuning my sled, granted twins aren't the easiest to tune, but the CFI-2 motor just runs sooo consistently. I absolutely love being able to ride my sled day after day and just doing small preventative maint. before every ride (clean clutches/belt, grease, quick inspection, etc) and just riding while in the mtns instead of tinkering like I did on my IQR. I am very particular on how my sled is running, if isn't running how it should, it basically ruins the ride for me.

So while the IQR is a killer race sled, it is built for that, RACING. Can you make it into a mountain sled? Sure, but plan on doing extensive mods to get it to perform decently. OR buy a Pro and ride. Even throw a few mods on a pro and make it even better!
Hope this helps

Thanks for the response guys I'm a IQR guy and I love my sled but I've never ridden a pro and for what I've put into my IQR I could have bought a pro lol! But all I see any more is people ridding pros and they can't all be wrong so my next sled will definitely be a pro! But I don't think I can ever get rid of my IQR to much love and pain put into it lol!

I had a well built 06 iqr. V/e tunnel, ez-ryde, 900 billet union bay, 162, brads front end, etc. Was a lot if fun to ride until I got on a buddys pro. Mine was a lot of fun and 200hp all day long. To make a long story short....im on a 13 pro now.
