Mountain Horse metal chaincase cover cracked - Best fix?

The chaincase cover on my 2014 Mountain Horse is cracking down the middle of one of the welds. It also has been worn thin in one place by the chain. Looks like a new one is $155. I am considering either having it professionally welded or sealing it back up with JB Weld. Anyone else experience this? How would you guys fix it or should I just replace it?

Looks like it was rubbing from chain being to loose. Non-structural piece, just a chaincase cover. Drill a very small hole in each end of the crack to stop it from continuing. and JB weld it or get a weld shop to repair, no issues.

If you have a buddy who can weld, I would go that route, but if you're trying to pinch pennies then some jb weld and patience should fix that up for you.

If you feel its a cosmetic issue, tig weld and repaint.

If you are worried about function, all this thing needs to do is keep your pants out of the chain. The more snow that goes in, the better your bike will run. While running this older style kit we trimmed this case to process max snow and left just enough case to not rag my KLIM pants. Searched for an old picture, can't find. Anyway we cut the bottom 20% of the case off and installed a stubby rock guard on the bottom, left enough case cover so chain was not slinging snow on our jackets.
