need help, i am supposed to be leaving for dubois onthe 23 of januaryfor a week long trip. i have a 03 1m 800 that has a hiccup that seems to be consistently at about 6 to 7000 rpm. it seems like it is the throttle switches but i clipped that wire and tried again but still has the hiccup. i also tried a different coil and that was not it either.i also checked to make sure the grounds were tight.

any thoughts would be appreciated,
todd

When you talk about the throttle switches, are you talking about the kill switch that is intigrated into the throttle? That's worth disabling, but I'm leaning towards a compression, or ignition timing issue.

Have you compared compression b/t cylinders yet? Have you checked the plugs to see how it is burning?

on another note. If you clipped that wire, you should have heat-shrinked it; It could be grounding on your handlebars, and that could act as a temporary kill switch until the short clears.

m_beeson,
yes i am talking about the switches in the throttle. motor was fresh top end last year with about 300 miles on it now. will check compression and the plugs are burning a nice light coco color, that is why i did not think it could be plugs. i will try some new ones though. and as foar as the wire that i clipped i taped it up, tried itlike that and then put connectors back on and reattached.
thanks for the insight.....

I asked M7Rocks about your situation, this is what he replied:

Mike, tell him to make sure that he has a ground wire from the chassis to the engine, I assume its EFI? Might check the wire connections to the injectors, it sounds like he has something loose (connection wise) also fuel pressure is important.
