So the First Pic is the 2006 its way on the MAG side.

The last is the finished product of putting a 2005 Steering Post in a 2006 Chassis.

You will need the Rider Select, that matches the post angle

thanks for posting these. I own 3 2005's and I have never seen the 2006 steering setup before.

Yikes! I think I like the 05 setup!

lots of changes in there for 06!

Nice job!!! I like the pictures showing each step. I like pictures better than reading something or at least that's what I say when I pic up a magazine.

I'm doing just the opposite. I'm putting an 06 700 in an 05 900 chassis. I have the 06 steering stem but need the mounts. I'd be interested in the ones you removed lol.

Should be able to find the whole thing on Ebay

Should be able to find the whole thing on Ebay.

I bought a complete steering setup off Ebay.

I may be wrong but you may have clearance problems with the 06 engine and the 05 post configuration. the addition of the second set of injectors I think was the reason for the change.

Injector Clearance

The 2005 Engine has the injector by the steering post at an angle. Its like they built the sled then adapted the motor. 2 Injectors only in the 2005 in the upper case.

The 2006 motor has 4 injectors that go straight in.
2 in the upper case one in each cylinder.

Seems like on this one they built the motor first them modified the sled.

Engine also sits lower in the 2006, shorter chain case.

2005 Steering in 2006

This is important, when putting the 2005 post in a 2006 sled be sure and cut a little cubby hole in the tunnel so the steering can rotate back. The 2005 tunnel has this in it. the 2006 does not

Just use a skinny wheel on a grinder to cut about a 2.5 inch square hole.

2005 / 2006

The 2005 tunnel has the cubby hole from the factory the 2006 does not.

Putting a 2005 motor in the 2006 with the 2005 factory steering post requires a cubby hole.

Here is a 2005.
